This nicely located hotel is a 12/10 service, 10/10 food and bar and would be 10/10 rooms but we ran into a broken AC. Unfortunately, they almost shrugged and claimed an open window was better. Which would be the case if there weren’t 50 chirping birds at 3:45am(sunrise). Hoping you won’t get the bad AC, I’d highly recommend staying and letting the staff do their thing.

On arrival, we were made very welcome by the staff and shown to our room. The room was over 2 floors, which gave you lots of space. However, it could be an issue for the less mobile. The room had a well stocked minibar, which, as is normal, was quite expensive. There was a hospitality tray, but no milk portions and no biscuits! I you could, however, purchase a biscuit from the mini bar for £1. I know it may sound trivial, but we all like the thought of getting something free. At 5 star you could be forgiven for thinking you might get a wee bit bit shortbread. Breakfast was lovely and well presented, but we opted to take bits and pieces from the full scottish, so when it arrived with a half slice of Stornoway black pudding, I was a bit disappointed All in all a nice hotel.

I emailed the hotel after our stay but haven’t had a reply. We stayed in the most expensive room, which was £400/night including first and main course dinner, plus breakfast. The staff were great, but the basement room (10) was tired, broken and in grave need of a refresh. A few points: Great big stain on ceiling above bed - first thing you see in the morning! Sauna doesn’t work. Light switch by door side of bed doesn’t work. TV turns on and off, but won’t change channels - stuck on America’s Got Talent. Paint is tired and skirting boards are peeling. On a more personal/subjective note, I’m not keen on the Bosch Tassimo - it’s enormously wasteful (solid plastic capsules to make a single drink) and everything other than a single tea, coffee and hot choc sachet was pay-per-use. Disappointing, wouldn't come back, and very surprised I've not had a response to my email after several weeks. Rooms: Tired

From arrival to leaving the service was outstanding. Excellent food and attention to detail. The rooms were lovely and well appointed. The bar and restaurant were small intimate and luxurious. Could not fault it. We stayed with our Floridan friends who had the same opinion. We will be back. Cheers Rooms : 5/5 | Service : 5/5 | Location : 5/5 Hotel highlights Luxury, Quiet … More

Great hotel, clean, neat and spacious rooms. Our room was on the road-side so we could hear a little bit of noise from the road but nothing to irritate us. The wifi can be a bit temperamental. The restaurant food is of michelin standard, truly good! The restaurant is quiet (no thudding music) so it was a great atmosphere. You must the Arnold Bennet omelette.
