A lovely place set in beautiful grounds. Large selection of fishing lakes although didn't explore the whole site. Got a lesson as a present for someone and they really enjoyed it. Simeon is a great bloke with a brilliant, extensive knowledge of fly fishing. Had a great morning and went home with some delicious smoked trout.

So we decided to go on a 3hr journey to Rockbourne Trout Fishery and boy was it worth it. Second time I've been here and have to admit it gets better n better. I didn't realise they have a fridge that u can store ur fish in to keep them cool. Vending machine for snacks Summer house that provides teas and coffees Clean toilets too Smoked trout for sell And the best One was if u don't catch ur limited, they will give some to match ur ticket. The guys came over to help us to to show us a couple pointers and within mins we were on the monsters. The general other Fisherman around was so freindy and few came from far as well. Content Warning _ Not a positive review. Having travelled to visit my father in the New Forest from Aberdeenshire he was keen to show me the delights of trout fishing in Fordingbridge. He’s an experienced angler in his mid eighties and very proud of the river Avon. Today however left him rather deflated. We arrived intending to fish a ticket for one rod and 2 fish at the price of £47 per person. This seemed slightly pricey compared to Scotland’s many Lochs and rivers, however, the water had good reviews. On arrival we saw a sign that said ‘No catch and release.’ (I did not see this on the web site). Whilst I have no problem understanding English I asked for clarification as the booking on the web site said no fish after 12pm. For the fee you can fish from 8am so what happens between 8-12? I didn’t get much of a reply other than a mumble. I pursued the line and asked what happens once I catch 2 fish? I was told I could carry on fishing but would have to pay for each fish caught. I asked how much per pound? The response floored me; It’s £20 a fish! I said that I came for sport and not to fill my freezer with the UK’s most expensive trout. My sarcasm fell short only to be told catch and release kills the fish. What a load of rubbish! I have fished for trout for years on barbless hooks and have yet to see a fish die if handled correctly. I have to say that the experience was to say at the least, disingenuous, focussing more on making money that experience. In short I shall not return to the water and that is the best course of action I recommend until changes are made.
