All the staff who looked after me were fantastic. The end to end process felt very organised and efficient which gave me a high degree of confidence that I was being well looked after. Everyone was very professional, friendly and concerned about my well being. I particularly appreciated that the physiotherapist came to see me before my operation and talked me through the exercises that I should do after returning home. That made me feel like I was on the front foot in terms of my recovery. The catering staff were excellent, and there was a wide range of food available. I appreciated the personal touch of making sure that I could manage the challenges of eating with my arm in a sling. The night time staff proactively supported me and kept the observation process going during the night. I also appreciated the attentiveness of the nurse who looked after me before I left for home. It was good to have a clear understanding of how to deal with changing my bandages and managing the practicalities of dressing myself.

Not the friendliest welcome. Everyone else was directed to their clinic and told to help themselves to a hot drink I just received a sit there and wait to be called. I was extremely nervous so could have really done with a little more empathy and kindness. I have to go back for further appointments so fingers crossed it will be better next time.

My wife had an appointment for an ultrasound scan at 9.00am this morning. Having battled with the morning rush hour, we arrived early but we were kept waiting until nearly 9.15, no apology, only a thank you for waiting comment from the nurse Having said that the consultant was first class, explained everything to my wife, and was very reassuring

I was only an in-patient for one night so did not spend masses of time in The Duchy. However, I was fully involved with numerous ward, physiotherapy, dispensary, catering and nursing staff. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and they always responded professionally and cheerfully to my questions.

I have been twice for the same symptoms, first time I felt as though I wasn't listened to and felt really underestimated and belittled as though I don't know my own body, no further investigations, everything was based on assumption. The second time I went I addressed the same symptoms with a different consultant but still no further investigations, so how can a diagnosis based on assumption without testing be right? It just left me more depressed and I thought seeking private help would get better care and understanding than the NHS, it was really just a waste of time going to address my concerns I feel as though I'm going round and round in circles and this isn't doing my health any good.

I was looked after extremely well by staff who all introduced themselves by name when I had a recent day case procedure on my knee. While I wouldn't recommend a hospital stay to anyone, the care I received was faultless.
