The Millennium Trail is a short walk around the town of Alresford, and part of the walk is along the shallow but very clear chalk water River Alre. You can extend the walk a bit, but although there are some lakes by the river, these are mostly inaccessible, and mostly private. The walk by the river is pleasant enough and is mostly on proper paths, but it tends to get a bit wet. There is an old eel house, but you can only see one side. The other side is fenced off, and like the lakes, presumably private. Perhaps combine the walk with a visit to the nearby Watercress Line steam railway.
