I have been part of RiderCise for a few months now and been following Clare's on demand platform of exercises which have helped with my riding. I took part in the 5 day challenge and gained great knowledge and an insight into how important it is to have a strong body on the ground which then relates to gaining strength and a better riding position in the saddle. Its has made me more aware and accountable.

I've been doing RiderCise for just over a year now. I'm an endurance rider and knew I needed to improve my fitness in some areas as I felt weak in one leg and core. I wanted to increase my ride distances in 2022 and was worried I might not be capable. Sure my horse was going to be fine but basically I needed to be riding fit, not just fit. So I followed the program from foundation to intermediate and then advanced. Definitely felt stronger but where next? So I sent Clare an email and she arranged a 1-2-1 meeting via Zoom where we discussed my overall fitness, issues and what I wanted to achieve. Clare gave me a set of exercises and follow up meetings. It's really helped motivate me to continue working on getting stronger with a focus on the areas I need it. 2022 didn't quite work out as I hoped with endurance due to circumstances beyond my control but looking forward to next year with another winter to improve further using the RiderCise program :-)

Its hard to put into a few words the impact ridercise has had...and the support Clare continuously provides - her ethics..her passion to help riders be their absolute best selves for their horses...and her phenomenal knowledge and skills in teaching, coaching and personal training is just..put simply..'outstanding'. So pleased I took the plunge and signed up to ridercise. I've literally gone from strength to strength and addressed some very weak physical areas which were impeding mine and my horses progress. The programmes are bitesize and 'doable'...with clear progression routes through levels...the 121 support from Clare is exceptional whether its a 121 call or a direct and speedy response to a query through the fb ridercise support group....Clare always responds with clear and expert guidance. Clare knows how to get alongside individuals and help them to identify smart goals and aspirations. In just 1 x 30 min call...Clare helped me to formulate a smart, simple, 4 week ridercise plan, so I could do the golden horse-shoe endurance ride, and complete it comfortably and safely. Well...the event was over a week ago now...and here's the thing... we not only did it...with strength and without any discomfort whatsoever...Zarca and I won the performance formula for our 25k class!!! So proud...and determined to get even stronger and more balanced as a rider...Ridercise is making a massive difference...and also making more endurance adventures very possible for us now too!

A few years ago, I began to experience problems with my knee – just one of them! – which began to make things difficult. Already overweight, more weight piled on and I ended up being a horrifying 19 stone. I gave up riding long before I got there, when the horse I mounted had to brace itself, I decided I’d better get straight back off! I joined a programme called Noom, which worked really well and over the course of about 8 months, I lost 3 stone through calorie counting and increasing my exercise – firstly walking, something I’ve always loved, then yoga and running. However, my knee became really painful and I got a diagnosis of arthritis which was a wonderful excuse for someone who doesn’t really enjoy exercise to just stop. Then lock down happened, and the weight I had lost piled back on again. I tried rejoining Noom, but second time round it didn’t work, perhaps because I had tried all their tricks before. Things were not looking great. I discovered after looking under the sofa for my dog’s toy that I was no longer able to get myself off the floor without shuffling about on my bum and hauling myself up on furniture. I honestly felt about 80, and I was particularly worried as my mother is disabled by arthritis in her knees. At the time, my sister was working with Clare on the Ridercise programme – she’s an endurance rider who likes exercise (I think she may be adopted) – and she suggested talking to Clare about what I could do about it. Clare started me on a really easy programme of exercise (it was hell at the time!) and referred me to a sports physio, Joe Matejko, to look at my knee. Jo poked and prodded and ended up with the conclusion that I had a limited range of movement in all my main muscle groups; tortured me for about half an hour; and eventually released me pain free for the first time in years. As Clare has surmised, the pain came from over taxed muscles not the arthritis. I learned from Clare that I could do far more physically than I thought. I was disabling myself by being over-protective in effect. I’ve been working with Clare for 3 months now, and not only does she make me do hideously difficult exercises but she tells me what I can eat too! The weight is coming off, I’m fitter than I have been in a very long time, and I’m beginning to suspect that I might one day get back on a horse, without it doing the splits. I can get off the floor very easily, walk 10 miles, carry heavy weights without throwing my back out and I have a lot more energy. It’s not always easy, and I have fallen off the wagon more than once when work is very busy, but the trend is consistently positive. Thank you Clare!

I have been working with Clare for over 6 years now. Over this time she has completely shifted my mindset. I used to think rider fitness was something that I didn’t need but oh how wrong I was! Clare showed me the huge changes I could make in my riding through improving my strength and fitness off the horse. There are many equine fitness businesses now setting up but very few actually focus on the muscles we use when we ride. Clare uses rider specific exercises that, when you do them, actually make you a better rider and improves the weaknesses that you have on the horse. Since coming back from some time away from horses I have been using the online platform and have been working my way through the foundation and intermediate programmes. They are short workouts that you can fit in super easily so no excuses of not enough time. Clare has always been at the end of the phone to answer my questions and any concerns and worries I have. She kicks my butt into gear when I need it but is also understanding and sympathetic when I need her to be.

After a nasty fall which resulted in snapping my femur in half, I felt lost where to start with my recovery. I didn't know what would jeopardise my recovery or what would help it, until I learnt about Ridercise. Clare educated and guided me the entire journey from the day out of hospital, up to now - 3 months later. My leg is fully healed and I am probably the strongest I've been. I've learnt how crucial it is to have professional guidance, and rider-tailored exercises. I defiantly wish I had found out about RiderCise sooner, as training the wrong muscles could negatively impact your riding, something I was oblivious to before entering Clare's program. And in relation to my injury, I truly believe I wouldn't be as recovered as I am today without the guidance and expertise of Clare. I highly recommend RiderCise to anybody from complete beginners, to seasoned professionals. I cannot stress how important rider fitness training is to your riding, to your horse and to your body, and I wish somebody had shared their experience with me much earlier on!
