    I usually don’t leave bad reviews but I’m utterly disappointed and upset with the care I received from Charles East during a primary rhinoplasty. We achieved none of the results discussed and my nose is crooked, bulbous and I have worse breathing issues than before the surgery. Charles was the most expensive surgeon I saw and I foolishly believed that paying more would endure the best care and results. I’m really shocked that someone who charges so much would provide such bad care and results. Please please avoid, I wish I had!!!!

    I’m 10 days post-op so far and I had my cast removed yesterday…and I’m SO SO HAPPY with my nose (even at this early stage). I did a LOT of research before deciding who to go with. However, after my first face-to-face with Lydia I knew she was the right fit for me - Not only is Lydia the most amazing skilled and experienced surgeon and incredibly knowledgeable (I mean, if you’re looking for the best, then this is who you go to)… but she is also just such a lovely person and immediately puts you at ease. I felt like Lydia really took the time to listen to me and to understand my concerns. You can tell that Lydia is a perfectionist and her attention to detail is brilliant. I was particularly anxious about keeping a natural look and Lydia just totally got it. At no point did I ever feel rushed or pressured in any way whatsoever. I also can’t stress enough how Lydia went above and beyond to take care of me and to support me throughout the whole process - for instance, Lydia gave me a call the day before my surgery (on a Sunday no less) to check how I was doing; and she also called me every day on the days immediately following my operation just to make sure I was doing ok! I’m not going to lie to you, the first week after surgery is a bit uncomfortable - but do your research, talk to others who’ve been through it before (so that you know what you’re in for during that week)…and above all, be patient, and you’ll be fine! I would also highly recommend Lydia’s team (and in particular Giulia, Rosa and Marta) who just made the whole process so much easier. I can’t thank Lydia and her team enough.

    I am so happy with my results, the best thing is that for the last year I have been able to carry on with my life without my nose holding me back. I didn't have to do any research on who I wanted to do my surgery as my father is a doctor, and he said that without a doubt Charles East had the experience and his results are just right. My dad was very worried I would end up with a ‘Barbie’ nose and regret my decision. I am now a year after my rhinoplasty and I can hardly remember the operation, it was much easier than expected. I had a cast on during the first week and there was a bit of a pain but Charles and his team were marvellous.     My experience with Charles East has been a complete nightmare. He ruined 4 years of my life. I can’t put into words how horrible it has been not knowing if my nose could be fixed after what he did to it. I went to see him because of a bony bump on the upper part of my nose on one side which made it look uneven. He said he would shave it down to match the other side and he illustrated this by editing a photo of me on his computer which I was happy with. He asked me what else I didn’t like about my nose but the bony bump was the only thing I disliked. Despite not having a perfect nose it was my nose and I was happy with it. I had the same nose as my late mother and I did not want to lose it. The agreement was made to only address the bony bump. Cut to after the surgery and he has completely changed my whole nose and stripped it of its original structure. He was very aggressive with shaving down the bony bump and he even shaved down the opposite side which wasn’t needed at all and has resulted in my nose looking very thin and unnatural with less defined sidewalls. He also completely changed the bottom half of my nose with my tip becoming much too turned up, small, piggy and again very unnatural. Not at all befitting of somebody my age (I was 44 at the time). The side profile now looks completely unnatural and scooped out. I also ended up with a breathing difficulty in one nostril after the surgery despite being able to breathe perfectly before. Charles East insisted on an open rhinoplasty approach but I’ve since found out what I wanted could have been achieved easily with a closed rhinoplasty. In follow up consultation he would not agree with my issues and became defensive and abrupt insisting my nose looked “better” and “lovely”. He has accused me of not having a positive energy basically saying that I am being negative but this is not about being negative, he has simply not done what we agreed on and what I paid him a considerable amount of money to do. The trauma he has caused me is immeasurable. I feel completely violated. I chose Charles East after reading reviews on RealSelf but I have since been made aware that many of these are written by himself. I have recently had a second surgery with a different surgeon who is a lovely man and he has fixed the breathing problem and tried to restore my nose to my original appearance as close as possible but it will never look the same.
