I converted my large frame 1966 to electric about 6 months ago and I love it more every day. Have over 600 miles on it now. I live in a Florida beach community and it has turned my scooter into a daily rider to the store, bar, restaurant, or cruising (usually riding 2 up) year-round. I haven’t figured out the distance it can go on a charge (using one large battery), but haven’t had to (it’s over 40 miles at least). Perfect for where I live. I kept the 8” wheel in the front by running an 8” x 4.00 tire that has the same profile as the 10” x 3.00 on the rear hub motor; just had to beef up the front shock and spring (Niall has all the parts you need). Conversion pretty simple; the pros at Retrospective Scooters can help you with any questions you have. I made up my own simple wiring harness that so the headlight/taillight are always on while riding and the modified switch is just used for the horn (6V DC horn connected via a 12V to 6V voltage converter housed in the headlight housing). Bottom line: if you’ve been thinking about doing this go for it! I know a lot of 2-strokers out there think it is sacrilege or some such, but you’re doing nothing that couldn’t be undone. And, in my opinion, you’re making you scooter more reliable and FUN (you can’t ride it without smiling like a loon). BTW, I kept my 150 engine mounted with tire and muffler…so whenever I want the smell and sound of a 2 stroke, I can just hook up some gas and get my fix. Do not buy from this shop. They have 0 client service. When you have an issue with your moped they tell you to pay pf them collecting it although the issue has been created by them. When I first received my brand new royal alloy the battery was dead and it took them days to replace it. Now they have installed a gps tracker which has killed the battery in 4 days and they are saying its not their problem. Stay away is my recommendation
