I have been doing Krav Maga for just over a year and have enjoyed it very much. I had never done any martial art before. Al is a clever instructor with years of experience. Every session is well prepared with drills put together in a way that make perfect sense. He genuinely cares about your progress, focusing on your specific needs to get better. The group is a really nice bunch from all sorts of backgrounds and abilities. So, if you want to learn how to avoid trouble and what to do if trouble does find you, then training with Resilience Self Defence is a must.

This is a welcoming martial arts club to all. Classes are taught in great detail and made easy to understand by Al. All the students in class work as a team to progress further. It's great fun.

Unlike any other group class I've tried, learning Krav Maga with Al is an excellent way to get fit whilst learning really practical, potentially life saving skills and having alot of fun in the process. Al makes every lesson engaging and varied, whilst taking into account everyone's differing ages, abilities, strength and fitness levels. The group is so friendly and welcoming that you feel you fit in right from the start. I couldn't recommend Al, as a trainer, and the Resilience club, more highly.

How soon is too soon to write a review. If you'd have said to me even six months ago that I would be learning self defence and fighting skills I'd have fallen over laughing but now after reading an article in the Birmingham mail here I am. I'm not young, I could be fitter and I'm definitely overweight but I'm giving it a good go. The class is friendly and inclusive. The instructor is very approachable and skilled at getting the ideas across. My confidence and fitness is growing and my only regret is that I didn't find out about this sooner.

I've been learning Krav Maga for a year and a half now and I'd say that, for me personally, Al's instruction strikes exactly the right balance of theory, demonstration, aerobic work, aggression training, striking, ground work, prevention and even the legalities that may come from being forced to defend yourself. He goes out of his way to understand students' individual needs and he is personable and easy to train with. I recommend Mayhem to anyone who has ever thought about taking up Krav Maga or even who just wants to get fit and have fun with a great club.

I've trained with a few krav maga clubs and have found Al to be one of the best instructors and certainly the best in the midlands. The classes are fun and inclusive with a good balance of different abilities and not intimidating for women or newcomers (unlike some clubs I could mention). My technical skills and fitness have improved a lot over a short space of time.

Super happy to recommend Al and KMM to anyone who's keen to learn Krav (or indeed just get a bit fitter and more confident). KMM caters to all manner of people (I was extremely unfit when I started), you don't have to be a 6ft MMA superstar - in fact the variety of sizes, shapes, genders and capability is teaches how to move past the "ideal" scenario many martial arts teach. Regardless of where you've started, Al's a patient and funny teacher and helps you learn at a pace appropriate to you whilst challenging you to dig a bit deeper each time.
