We had a fab day in Runswick Bay with Mark. He had Dylan, 6, who is normally quite shy with new people, totally engaged and on board from the start. We had a huge haul of fossils, and one very happy and sleepy child, by the time we got in the car to go home. Would highly recommend and use Mark again. Also going to book onto his half term talk at Stump Cross Caverns.

After catching the fossil hunting bug I booked a guided walk with Mark. Nothing can replace learning from an expert with lots of experience and Mark is just that. He was very patient with me when I was blind as a bat when it came to seeing fossils and he really made sure that by the end of the walk I could see the fossils and differentiate between normal pebble and a nodule with a possible treasure inside it. It has been great fun, with lots of questions answered and Mark being very helpful in every way. I really highly recommend spending time with Mark, he is a treasure of knowledge. You will be in good hands.

Well what can I say? I booked a day with Mark as I’m new to fossil hunting on the Yorkshire coast and wanted to take advantage of his knowledge and experience to make the most of my limited time (10 hour round trip for me to get here!). Mark delivered in spades. Quickly tuned me in to the geology, likely fossils to be found in what type of nodule, patiently answered all my questions about prep and is an all round top bloke to boot. Brilliant family fossil walk with Mark at the weekend. We've often looked for fossils in the past without much success, but with Mark's expert guidance on what to look out for we found lots of exciting specimens and we're much more confident about what we're looking for. Our finds included several species of ammonites, belemnites, coprolite, fish bone, shrimp and fossilised wood. Can't recommend a trip out with the Yorkshire Fossil Hunter highly enough.
