This is truly a lovely school with wonderful staff and a lovely atmosphere. I started attending this school at the beginning of 6th form after dropping out of my previous one due to bullying and being completely overwhelmed with Body Dysmorphia and I had very little hope of ever being able to complete my A-levels. Right from the start with applying for their 6th form RMGS surprised me with their helpful advice and quick responses. I applied late and other grammar schools didn't even respond to my emails but RMGS lent me their hand and gave me and opportunity to join. The atmosphere here is truly wonderful, the students and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. At the start I was going through quite a difficult time and the head of 6th form Mr. McDowell gave me so much support and advice and really helped me out. The Pastoral staff are very useful and brilliant, I personally talked to Jackie Curtis and she was incredibly supportive and kind, she helped me during points in time where I had lost all hope and gave me the confidence to go out and try again. My subject teachers were incredibly wonderful. I took Maths, Biology and Economics for my A-levels. My Biology teachers Mr. Williams and Mr. Watson were also incredibly helpful and made their lessons very interesting. My Economics teachers Mr. Shibli, Mr. Twizell and Ms. Purcell were all lovely and perhaps because of their teaching I developed the passion I have now for Economics and am going to go on and study it at university. In particular my maths teacher Mr. Tomkins was very motivational and helpful. I can't begin to count the number of times I came in during lunch and he would help me work through questions which I didn't understand and struggled with. At one point in Year 13 I started to become really unmotivated and stopped putting effort into my subjects, it was at that time Mr. Tomkins had a serious talk with our class about our A-levels and our futures and it really did wake me up. Without him I genuinely don't think I would have gotten the A I did in Maths. He has not only inspired me to do the best I can academically but in life and really give everything my best shot. This truly is a lovely place and I am so thankful for the opportunity it gave me. I went from dropping out of my last 6th form achieving Ds in my mocks to achieving AAA* in my A-levels here. Thank you for everything and I would definitely say I had a much more positive experience here than at Rochester Maths.
