I went there with the CCF (RAF section), flying is really fun. The facilities are very modern and nice. Don't let the briefing about abandonment put you off, and don't let the sick bag in your right leg pocket put you off either, you are unlikely to be sick, and very, very, very unlikely to need abandon the plane. Enjoy the beautiful sights from the cockpit and enjoy handling the plane, and also looking like you are in Top Gun. Bring a camera (phone) in the plane with you. And, if you are feeling up to it, ask to do aerobatics (loop the loop, barrel role, etc). Most importantly do as your are told, and you will have loads of fun!

Three of the worlds best, the RAF, the Harrier and the Land Rover Defender. Best of British.

I haven't been to RAF Wittering since the late 1950s I wasn't in the RAF but my Dad was Stanley William Harding he was stationed there working as a fireman it was really exciting to live there, we moved there just as the Vulcan Bombers moved in I must admit it was a bit scary when one took off because they seemed to be warming up for ages and when they started running down the runway to take off we could feel the ground shaking just after they took off the noise of the engines was really very loud but the best part was that our house was near the end of the runway I will never forget the size of it as it flew over and blocking the day light plus they never looked as if they were going to get high enough to fly but they allways did. Happy Happy Days.

Always find it weird. Whenever I drive passed a MOD sites like this on, Catterick etc never see people milling around or doing anything hardly. Seem like a ghost town, may see the odd person on the gate but the rest must be invisible. Do a great job to all MOD personal 👍

Called here on my way past, to take a few photos of the Harrier located at the entrance. I called the base beforehand asking if it was ok and they were very friendly and said that it was ok to take a few photos but just be aware that live there is live traffic
