RAF Warboys (a unique aerodrome name) home to Heavy Bombers as part of Bomber Command during WWII as part of No 3 Group. The Airfield Estate is built on the aerodrome itself and as in the photos supplied the apron is now being prepared for development. This RAF Base was home to No 156 Squadron flying Lancasters, this base went on to become a fore runner in the Pathfinder force. 2 unique facts about RAF Warboys is that the main runway was 6,290 feet long and in 1944 HM Queen Elizabeth visited the base and inspected the crew of an Avro Lancaster. RAF Warboys was in use from 1940 to 1963.
