I worked for R.E. Thompson For around 3 and a half weeks employed through Priority Appointments. On my first day i was not shown around how I should of been (Shown fire exits and any important information i may have needed in case of an emergency) I was also not given the correct PPE for the job and handling sharp metal I would of thought gloves would of been given to me to protect my hands but this was not the case. Whilst there I was taught and quickly picked up the operation of some of the machinery and was told this on several occasions by fellow colleagues and the team leader. However I could not attend one of the work days as my partner fell ill and i had to take her i to hospital the night before and unfortunatley left my mobile at home whilst in a rush to help sort out a changing bag for her 2 year old. When I returned home the following day at around 6pm I had a missed call and an email from priority appointments informing me that my contract had been terminated effective immediately due to the fact that I was not "Suited to the role" which i found hard to believe considering all of the positive feedback i was given by staff previously. I felt quite underwealmed by this so decided to go i to R.E. Thompson the following day to shed some light on the situation. I was greeted by a lady in the HR department and I explained why i was unable to call in and she seemed fairly understanding of the situation but assured me that it is my duty to let the workplace know of my absence (Even if i had no way of contacting them) I understood where she was coming from and couldnt of agreed with her more. She then told me that the operations manager would be up to see me shortly and discuss things further. Upon his arrival I tried to explain myself when i was rudely intteruped by him in what i thought was a fairly rude manor and was told that the list of reasons my contract was terminated was given to priority appointments by himself and the team leader (who had told me that I seemed to be getting on well there, which seemed odd to me) and that if i wanted any further Information that I should contact them and ask about it. (Which i already had) and Informed the gentlemen that they could only tell me what they were told "I was not suited for the role" and was told that I should not be on the premesis. I was enjoying the experience at R.E. Thompson but after being treated in a way i do not believe to be fair, I would not reccomend anyone to bother considering it as a place of work if they are looking for somewhere full time.
