The kids love walking and walking the dog here, but the golfers are not friendly. Not the first time rude golfers say it's a place they use and not public. It's not safe for kids to dodge golf balls and the golfer clearly saw the children.

Queens Park GC is set in a beautiful park, and offers a relaxed and non stuffy experience. The course condition was not great. Tees had more weeds than grass and the fairways were pretty bare in lots of places (understandable with all the foot traffic from walkers). Greens were sparse but I'm sure this will improve as the weather improves, and the use of a drive-on bunker rake certainly compromises the bunkers. On the plus side however, the layout is great (albeit the loss of some of the original bunkers has definitely had a negative impact, particularly the 18th), and you can certainly imagine what a great course it would have been in its heyday. Walkers are a huge problem - the argument from some seems to be that 'this was a park first so we shall walk wherever we like!' That may be true, but it will be scant comfort when your child is hit by a golf ball because they have run on the fairway straight into the path of an well hit drive. All in all, a very worthwhile visit, and great value for money.
