I sent 4 of our 1930s pine doors to Pro Door stripping (London) back in October 2022. I was hoping to save myself some time and end up with a professional finish. We paid to have the doors stripped, sanded and finished with a bees wax. Initially I was impressed with the value for money, promptness of the service and ability to have them collected. However when they initially come back a week later, I have to say I could have done a better job myself. The application of the wax was messy and patchy. The work looked rushed and incomplete. I contacted ProDoor stripping for a resolution, and due to the loss of confidence in their workmanship I was after a partial refund as I was then going to have to finish this properly myself. ProDoor were apparently unable to do this. They did however offer to recollect the doors and promised that they would be as good as new “better than before” and would even fill any imperfections with appropriate wood filler. Unfortunately the doors returned with more damage and imperfections after their second attempt. There were now obvious dents, digs and bits of splintered wood. Additionally the doors smelt strongly of white spirit and again the application of wax was poor. On the doors second return I contacted them by phone and was asked to email photos of the damages. I was advised that I had to wait for ProDoors elusive complaints department to review the complaint. It is now April 2023 and after several contacts via email and phone I have got no where. I even doubt that there is a complaints department. In summary: They may be good value if you are not so precious about your doors and plan to finish the work yourself with paint. Their craftsmanship is poor and clearly the business focus is to rush through as many doors as possible. Poor customer service, and no apparent complaints department or manager to assist in any issues. Very disappointed, as I have not saved myself time. I may now need to fill and paint the doors to hide the new damages.
