The process for diagnosing and treating a child's mental health condition varies depending on the individual's symptoms and needs. Our team of child psychiatrists and mental health professionals conduct a comprehensive assessment that includes a review of the child's medical history, a physical exam, and interviews with the child and their family. Based on this assessment, we develop a personalized treatment plan that may include therapy, medication, and other interventions as needed.

How do you involve parents and families in the treatment process?

We recognize that family involvement is critical to the success of treatment for many mental health conditions. From start to finish the experience is excellent. When I googled the phone number I was so surprised to see such low reviews. (On Doctify it’s pretty much 5/5!) so thought I must add my views. I have visited The Priory in Canterbury for several years now & my first councillor I didn’t fully gel with but after speaking with the amazing staff there & explaining the situation I was placed with a new multi skilled doctor, aptly called Dr Terrance Nice! His approach & skill is like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I’ve tried multiple NHS services being told I can’t deal with more than one issue when unfortunately I have several. This is not what I got from here, he listens & never judges. I feel so much better & have learnt so many new techniques to help cope with panic attacks, stress, depression, anxiety, sleeping issues…the list goes on. I am still seeing him as I have so much to process like many of us do these days. The team they have is also excellent, they remember me by name, treat me like a human & could not be more helpful. I 100% recommend Canterbury Priory Well-being Centre. The only tiny thing I’d like to see back since it was removed during Covid is the coffee machine :) that said, they are more than happy to make me a coffee should I not have had time to make one before arriving! All I can say is if you’ve read the poor reviews, ignore them as I’ve been here several years & never experienced any poor service. 10/10!!

I went in here last week and gave quite sensitive information to the receptionist, as is the nature of the service they're offering. She said I would get a call back in the next day or so, I never did. I find that unprofessional. I can only speculate that maybe they thought I couldn't afford it, but that's not always an obvious judgement call, or actually appropriate. You can't always tell someone's circumstances from appearances and a company offering these sort of services shouldn't really be judging like that anyway. I'd suggest, if you need help, to try other services first if you can. Some free services, like Humankind, were a world away in terms of professionalism, affording the client the dignity they deserve and compassion.

Priory Group should not be mentioned as a wellbeing place. The staff working in the actual premises is wonderful, however the way the Group itself is handled is a catastrophe. I have been given wrong invoices, been asked to pay more money then I should have, last minutes cancelations, accidental double bookings, wrong hours and bad communication between Staff, Clients, the Group and Counsellors. Priory Group, not specifically the Canterbury one, is very pricey which could be acceptable if the service was great. The Service is NOT. If you have the time to make sure to double check your invoices, your payments, change your appointments last minutes, then and only then the counsellors are fantastic people and worth it. My counsellor was amazing, my experience with Priory was not.
