This place is draining. My little sister goes here and never in my life have i ever seen her more unhappy. This place isolates you and makes you feel as if you’re the problem, they make you feel like you are inferior. They will take advantage of you over and over. I would recieve calls from my sister and she would be crying because they would promise her home leave then tell her no, anytime she would cry they would tell her she’s unstable and prolong her return back home. She is away from friends which is her only escape and makes her feel sane. This place is terrible. I urge everybody never to send somebody or check youself into a place like this. this place doesnt help you, it kills you.

honestly i am appalled by the way my friend was recently treated here for which a young girl who has gone through so much i hoped she would’ve been treated accordingly i did expect better for a hospital which the sole purpose of it is to look after those who need any sort of help i feel that there is no reason to get into detail but honestly i would give this hospital wort reviews if i could

DO NOT GO HERE ! I was an inpatient here in 2023. 20 years ago this was an ok psychiatric hospital. Now it’s a prison. The food is dogfood on noodles. The ‘therapy’ is largely given not by qualified psychologists or psychotherapists but by people with no formal qualifications ! “Oh I’m a trainee psychotherapist or a trainee psychologist they would say.” These terms have no meaning in the UK! My fishmonger is more an assistant psychologist that their group leaders are. But it’s all about making money for the Priory Group now. Spending the least amount of money possible on the cheapest possible ketchup, the cheapest possible agency staff. Don’t go in here. Don’t put your loved ones in here please ! Now it’s like a post apocalyptic asylum prison. STAY WELL AWAY. THIS IS A BUSINESS NOW NOT A PLACE THAT PUTS LOOKING AFTER VULNERABLE PEOPLE FIRST. AVOID AVOID AVOID. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!!!!!!! Please see attached photos of the inedible food, the comments box with a patients desperate scrawling of protest, the smashed wall ‘art’, the toilet seat with no lid, the toilet door that is a baby changing May stuck on with magnets, the shower with no moving parts

Update: 10 years later! Priory Healthcare Ltd appeared before Westminster Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday 20 April 2023, and pleaded guilty to failing to discharge a duty under Section 3(1) Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974. It’s conviction follows the death of 21-year-old Francesca Whyatt after she was discovered unconscious at The Priory Hospital, Roehampton on 25 September 2013. Inquest: On 30th September 2013 an investigation was commenced into the death of Francesca Whyatt (date of birth 18th September 1992) and concluded at the end of the Inquest on 4th August 2017. The Jury came to a narrative conclusion. Their conclusion included findings that: (1) The protocols, procedures and risk assessments were not updated to reflect the challenges and changes to the Emerald Ward. The layout of the ward over four floors and the system of fob and key doors made the policy unworkable with the level of staff provided. (2) The zonal observation policy failed and staff were unaware of how it operated. (3) Prohibited items of ligature were not strictly monitored or controlled. (4) On the day of the incident there was a complete lack of leadership, there were very few experienced staff on duty, several were new or with only days of experience on the ward. (5) The training and induction of staff was generic and not fully suited to the particular requirements at the Emerald Ward. The reliance on agency staff added to the risk and detracted from the continuity and effectiveness of the therapy of the ward. More could have been done earlier to recruit permanent staff. (6) Francesca Whyatt’s death was contributed to by neglect in that she was permitted to wear tights. (7) Francesca Whyatt’s death was contributed to by neglect in that she was able to ascend from the garden to the first floor unrestricted by a locked door and/or staff intervention. (8) Francesca Whyatt’s death was contributed to by neglect in that there were no zonal or intermittent observations undertaken between the period 4.05 p.m. – 4.20p.m..

Dubious Practices with Dr. Rohan. Despite having full insurance for potential treatment and assessment, her admin team call you late at night, on personal mobiles or via email, telling you to settle all invoices yourself and claim them back, despite them having had the details for months. Feels like a scam. I cannot understand why a Physician that is happy to be recommended by a leading insurance company is not prepared to deal with the insurance company rules on payment. The administration conducted by her assistant, Marianna, is atrocious, calling you from her personal mobile on sunday nights trying to re-organise treatments, presumably because Dr. Mohan is making insured payments pay upfront and so they cancel. All in all, a shocking experience.

Edited February 2023: Note that this review applies to the facility itself and not the consultants working there who in my experience provide superb care. I will be taking up my feedback with the contact I have been provided in the reply below and urge others to do the same in the hope of helping to enact positive change. Original review of September 2022: Astonishingly poor. This facility has apparently undergone a refurbishment recently but you can’t tell. Dirty toilets, a general sense of dilapidation to the whole building and grounds, awful watery coffee in the cafeteria. To top it all off, a member of the nursing staff came into the reception/waiting area/lobby (there is no dedicated space to wait for appointments) and openly discussed an inpatient’s care and condition with the receptionist while I was sitting waiting for an outpatient appointment. A 20th century hospital for 21st century problems, run on a shoestring by unscrupulous profiteers.
