Hotel is located near the railway station which is convenient and probably the only positive aspect. Room is quite small than usual. No air conditioning and is quite warm in the summer. Extremely poor service. All the amenities in the room are poor and outdated. The TV was an old model with no smart features. The kettle was old and dirty. The iron box was leaking and stained our white shirt. Despite all this the staff made no attempts to compensate us in any way. Highly disappointing and not worth £500/ 2 nights. The pool area is also not great, have seen much better in way less expensive hotels like crowne plaza. Would never choose this hotel for premium service or good facilities.

I stayed here for two night while I was attending a conference. The stay was not great, the room I was given was tiny, dark, the access was not in the main corridor, it felt like a horror movie, somebody was going to come and kill me. I asked to be changed and they gave me a twin room, which was not ideal as the beds are too small. The worst part was that the beds were really uncomfortable, both of them. I tried one one day and the mattress was horrible, changed the other night and it was worst. There’s no air conditioning in any room, so the room was always stuffy and damped. The conference rooms where also super warm and stuffy. I don’t recommend this hotel, you pay too much for what you get.

Had a wonderful stay here. The building is stunning and the 2016 refurbishment was beautifully done with stunning common rooms and restaurant. The breakfast was great with a range of options. The room was lovely. Yes the floor creaked and there was no aircon but it’s a heritage building and that’s understandable. The Dyson fan was quiet but effective and our room was closest to the train but didn’t cause me to lose sleep (the station is right next to the station so of course expect some train noise). I will be back

I had the opportunity to attend the Affiliate Gathering event at the Principal York, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The event rooms were fantastic, providing a great atmosphere for the gathering. However, there was an issue with loud squeaky doors in the second-floor function rooms that disrupted the speakers and hindered the flow of their presentations. This is something they should address promptly. Aside from that, the events handling was amazing, with a wide variety of food, drinks, and water provided. As a guest, I felt well taken care of and in good hands throughout the day. Overall, it is a wonderful venue that I would highly recommend.
