The team who did my C-section surgery were very good, reassured me as I was very nervous, delivered my little boy safely. The after care on cedar ward was okay, the department is stretched like every service but the hospital staff majority were very caring and helpful.

Normally I don't give less stars but this place needs serious attention, needs to upgrade. Staff are friendly but they don't allow kids in.

The midwives are absolutely unprofessional. During labor if there is fetal distress they do not escalate to the doctors unless you create a fuss. They don't arrange follow ups and don't come for home visit after discharge.

The most traumatic experience of my life at heartlands hospital - maternity. Firstly, the induction process on delivery suite was appalling! Midwives did the bare minimum and constantly made you feel like a nuisance when enquiring something, the majority of staff rude and degarding to patients (one asked me post partim whether i was still of poo infront of her peers and others walking past as i walked to the toilet - total embarrassment). I was not properly checked throughout my actual active labour, i was 10 cm dialated with the urge to oush but was shouted at constantly to not push im not ready, only after i couldn't bear the prolonged pin and asked for an epidural, fid she examine me and say i was actually 10cm fully dialated. I had to have an emergency csection due to the negligence of my delivery midwives. Then ontop of that i was NOT informed nor my consent given for trainee staff to operate on my csection. Once they cut me only then did u realise most around the table were trainees practicing on me, i was in so much fear of dying on the table i just kept quiet and let them get on with it. After my csection i developed an infection, no one could tell me how but they put me on antibiotics and blood thinning injections for potential blood clots. Taken back to maple ward the Midwives would conveniently forget to give me my medication on time even though they had signed off on the paper they'd administered the same. For example my midwife was to give me my blood thinning injection at 12pm, i enquired around 2pm when i would be receiving the same and she said its on her lsit of to do. At 6pm i asked a different midwife about the injection and she said my chrt says it was given i told her no it wasn't, she went back to the original midwife who told her sorry she forgot to give me!!! Having had my previous two children at womrns hospital and now my third at heartlands hospital i can say the difference good midwives makes is obvious, i would bever had an emergency csection if i had competent midwives. An enquiry defo needs to be done into the maternity unit of the hospital and that to a non bias one. This hospital is actively traumatising patients.

I have given birth to my 4 children in this hospital and have to say it's the best experience ever the midwife's are so nice and kind. Sometimes you can get moody staff but mainly they all are very sweet and I had a great experience. But they do stay very busy which I think is the main reason for the staff's rude behaviour because of being under pressure.

Would you like to use the toilet at a hospital? Particularly in the maternity department with the baby changing facilities?... Unfortunately this is what an available, Disabled, baby changing facility - Toilet looks like in a hospital.

Honestly horrid experience in triage . The midwives are unprofessional. And understaffed and overstretched. But they are still accepting many patients ? Like how does that make sense. Anyways avoid this hospital if you care about receiving good quality care. It’s very unsafe clinically and from a hazard point of view. Their was obstructions in hallway leading to midwife hitting face on door! - unprofessional staff, - hazards present , - poor quality of care , Honestly avoid!

My sister was in labour and the staff told her to sit in a waiting room which was full of people as they literally had no rooms or beds to give birth in! Had we not kicked up a fuss and they left it another 5 minutes, my sister would of given birth on a dirty hallway floor, opposite the waiting room.
