Karla Dudley : 5 Stars ***** Prince Evans : 2 Stars Residential Conveyancing. It was quite a rollercoaster with Prince Evans when buying my first flat. In total I had 4 solicitors handle my case, with Karla being the only one to see it over the line. Back when I had my offer accepted, the first solicitor was very good and started the searches quickly. However, things went south when the solicitor went on holiday and I was passed to a new solicitor (bearing in mind the purchase took 5 months so a two week holiday would not have been a problem at this stage ). My 2nd solicitor was fast to reply to my emails but lacked providing any kind of legal advice. I felt I was raising all the queries and finding information/errors in documents which then needed changing. It made you wonder what you were paying for. At the beginning of September this solicitor left Prince Evans - with no hand over or notice!! I emailed one morning to get an auto- out of office message saying they had left the firm… that was it. It then took two weeks of ringing Prince Evans which led to being assigned solicitor No.3 who I spoke to on the phone once… then my case disappeared into the abyss with no responses or messages. At this stage I was at my wits end. All the queries had been answered (so I thought), the mortgage was in… and we were ready to go! We just needed to exchange and complete. This radio silence led to me hassle for a new solicitor. Numerous calls, emailing senior partners, getting my estate agent to follow up - I was finally assigned Karla! Karla was excellent. Very knowledgeable, raised a host of new queries that were missed and negotiated a retainer of funds should anything be amiss (it was a probate sale). I was very impressed with this service and wish it was like this from the start. 2 months after completion, my Land Registry registration is complete and the case is closed. Very happy. TLDR: I WOULD use Prince Evans again IF Karla Dudley was handling my case from the start AND I had some kind of compensation if my case was given to another solicitor.
