An amazing example of an 18th century Manor House of good size, superbly furnished, and previously unknown to me. Friends, with membership of Brighton Pavilion, which includes entrance to Preston Manor, took us to the house when we stayed with them this weekend. It was their first visit, too, and we all fell in love with the place. It is the most perfect example of a once-livid-in house, with fine furniture, paintings, sculpture, clocks, ceramics and glassware. Really beautiful interiors throughout; with some world class objects, like the the 16th century wooden cabinet carved to represent a a grand, classical hall, with numerous hidden draws, doors and slides (reputed to have belonged to Anne Boleyn’s sister).We were lucky enough to spend several hours as the only visitors to the house, where the charming staff were immensely welcoming, without being at all intrusive. Cannot recommend it high enough; an absolute joy to visit.
