Well where do I begin, Firstly the bath was dirty, secondly the room was cold and the heating didn’t work. Then at the end of our stay, we were interrupted by a member of the housekeeping team who decided to enter our room without knocking at 09:10am to clean our room, we were still asleep it wasn’t until girlfriend had woke me and said that Someone was in our room. I told the housekeeping lady we were not ready to depart. However this obviously was sufficient to them and she returned an hour later. My girlfriend opened the door to her, she said are you ready to depart whilst my girlfriend was fresh out the shower. We asked her what time check out was and she said 12. I asked her why she was knocking at half 10 in the morning. She said our room was the last to clean and if we could depart that would be great. As you can imagine this caused frustration. What’s the point in having a check out time of 12 noon if you are just going to be pestered to check out sooner. I must say this altered our stay and made it a unpleasant experience due to the fact that she didn’t apologise and she kept coming back. I must say, we won’t be returning, furthermore the receptionist in the morning had no compassion to our issue and just said ‘goodbye have a good day’. What a outrageous sense of customer service.

We got a very good deal for staying three nights in Tonbridge over the weekend. This is an above-basic hotel which provides the essentials: bed, TV (subset of Freeview channels), very good shower, 🚿 in-room coffee (usual basic instant) etc. They provided real cups as opposed to throw-away paper cups that some lesser chains provide in the post-Covid world. The bed was very comfortable for one with back-ache, well above average. You have to ask to have the room serviced. I needed an extra towel and it was instantly provided. Indeed the front desk staff were excellent: friendly and helpful. The restaurant is a Chef and Brewer pub next door. We did not use that, but it seems to have a good reputation as bookings were essential to get a table. There is abundant parking space attached to the pub and hotel. All in all there is nothing to complain about. Basic, but above average and good value. We shall stay there again.
