There is a reasonably priced chain hotel in Richmond, but it's a Travelodge. This place is a good 15 minutes walk from Richmond Station. Rooms smell of mould on entry, windows open to a very busy dual carriageway. Sink plug is stuck closed. Avoid.

A couple of weeks ago, my 18 year old daughter booked a room for she and her girlfriend to watch the women's football at Wembley. Upon arriving my daughter asked to check in and have her reservation details. The member of staff then turned to her girlfriend and asked for her reservation details at which point my daughter stated it was a single reservation. The male member of staff asked for my daughter's ID. As a passport costs a lot of money and the passport office is unreliable, my daughter tends to keep it safe at home. She explained that she had no ID as it was not made clear that ID was required upon checking in. Which is usually correct. I checked in at the Savoy on Sunday, with my wife and we were not asked for ID. So what was the problem here at the Premier Inn? My daughter called me in a panic saying the hotel she had paid for and had the reservation on her phone as well as the payment card used. I asked to speak to the guy on the desk. He got on the phone Kieran was his name. I asked what was the problem, my daughter has told me there is an issue. To which he replied, "he or she has no ID". "I beg your pardon I said, that is my daughter you are referring to, she is a female as you have already been told and since when is ID needed to check into a Premier Inn?" At which point the gave the phone back to my daughter saying I was being aggressive. He wouldn't accept a scan of her passport emailed over so I had to drop everything and drive 112 miles round trip from Southampton to the Premier Inn in Richmond for his boss to take a 10 second look at her passport and agree she could share a room with her girlfriend. She booked a double room, they insisted she have a twin room with 2 separate beds. Disgusting discrimination. My daughter who has autism was highly distressed by the attitude and disregard for her as an individual and a customer of a Whitbread brand. This was plain and simple discrimination and would have been reported to the Met police as a hate incident if it were not for the fact that calling 101 and speaking to the Met is virtually impossible due to being on hold for hours. I would certainly not recommend this hotel or it's staff to any young girls who follow women's football or decide to have their hair short. This is shocking, especially in a borough, as diverse as Richmond upon Thames. I even have a case ID from Whitbread who were not really interested and were in utter denial over the vile behaviour of their staff. Fwd: Premier Inn Feedback, Ref: WHB-1747230-W3B1

I stayed on Saturday the 22nd April. It was very well priced and as a budget hotel it covered all my requirements. We all know a Premiere Inn is a no frills choice but after a hell day it was nice to go somewhere that simply 'does what it says on the tin'. The staff were very sweet. One lady (amazing eyebrows lady) was especially helpful and accommodating. I was generally so impressed with the service she delivered to me here. I don't know is she was a manger but certainly displayed managerial quality. Thank you .
