    Staff at hotel were friendly and helpful but my partner had been booked for the dinner/breakfast package and when we arrived we were told the restaurant was closing in 10 minutes (9pm) as it was Bank Holiday. It would have been good to have been told when booking or phoned and told this so we could have eaten on the way. We ended up buying food from a Tesco Extra. When we returned to the car park we saw a large dead rat just outside the entrance. I'm terrified of rats dead or alive and was very upset at one being so close to the entrance to the hotel and restaurant and went to have a drink at the bar only to be told that she had just called last orders and the bar would be closing in 25 minutes. (10pm) We informed the member of staff at the bar about rat , she didn't seem bothered and a few moments later 3 members of staff went out with a broom and dustpan and brush. It looked as if this was a common occurrence as one member of staff appeared to have taken a picture of the rat and was showing it to others and laughing. I felt quite sick by then so we took our drinks back to our room. In the morning I noticed that there were black rat traps all over the grounds. There is obviously a major problem in the area. It was a very disappointing start to our trip and has made me unlikely to return.
