RE - TYPED I have walked over Prebends Bridge as a local person for over 50 years. Also as a Grey College , Durham University student. Unparalleled views of the River Wear from here and all the wildlife it supports. Nothing better than to sum up with Sir Walter Scott's evocative words carved into the stonework of the bridge itself ..... GREY TOWERS OF DURHAM HOW WELL I LOVE THY MIXED AND MASSIVE PILES ( Of stone ! ) HALF CHURCH OF ENGLAND HALF CASTLE ' GAINST THE SCOT AND LONG TO ROAM THESE VENERABLE AISLES WITH RECORDS STORED OF DEEDS LONG SINCE FORGOT.
