I trusted the plausible gentleman at Powertech to rewind a small industrial motor for us. I sent the machine to him expecting a price of around £200 - £250 at the most. When we came to collect it the following day he demanded £740 excluding VAT, informing me that he was not VAT registered. I queried the price and he told me that he had worked on it into the night and that the price was very reasonable. Knowing little about the labour costs involved, I trusted him and paid. The electrician who came to reconnect the machine was amazed at the price and said that I had been severely ripped off. He also informed me that the electronic break was not working.
