Absolutely disgraceful place. I have been incorrectly diagnosed over the phone . As a result had to take private appointment elsewhere. I was okey for a while. Once the pain returned tried to contact the practice , 32 hours later still no doctor appointment or medication prescribed. I'll 100% agree with what many more people on here saying that this practice is badly managed with poor communication between departments.

Awaiting a call back re a death cert, was promised a call back at 10.30 am. Called again at 2.30 and again at 5.15, was told the doctor had called me at 5pm. A lie as phone not rung and no notification. So Friday at 18.13 prior to bank Holiday and we don't know if being referred to coroner or not. Thanks portlad for adding to our distress

Would give them lower if I could, years of battling to get help. I know I'm not the only one. Receptionist staff are rude, half the doctors don't care and hide behind a phone call so they can hang up. Gaslight you into thinking there's nothing wrong. They simply don't care and want to take home the pay check.

Took my wife to the surgery for a blood test and to book an appointment for me to see a Doctor, I asked for Doctor Saaed if possible, the receptionist explained if I was prepared to see any Doctor I could have an appointment within 40 minutes, so I agreed that was satisfactory. While my wife was having her blood test Doctor Saaed rang me and said he could see me there and then. When he saw me he was very thorough, he explained why I was experiencing the symptoms I had and told me the treatment I needed. On the whole I found from the receptionist to the Doctor the service was exceptional, professional and very reassuring

After suffering with mental health issues for 23 years and currently taking high dose medication 300mg daily for depression and sleeping tablets the practice charged me £30 and had me chase a form for 5 weeks. A form they eventually refused to sign at all. The university form was to confirm my illness, and enable me to access some support and reasonable adjustments. I called 6 times in all and waited 5 weeks to end up being told mental illness is NOT a disability. (via a post it note on my form) and when I asked for a second opinion I received a short cold call from a new Dr who has never met me, a new Dr who told me, that mental illness does not “significantly” effect studies? I explained my university class mental illness as a disability and that I am trying to rebuild my life and simply needed a signature stating my treatment and illness do impact on my life. The Dr on the call was obnoxious and coldly told me he would not put his name to my mental health “significantly”affecting my studies. Despite a recent consultation with another Dr at the practice in which I begged for help, instead it was recommended I access Dorothy Pattison's, as they have more time. Even though suicide and self harm we discussed. The Dr on the call wouldn’t clarify when asked what he classed as “significant”. I outlined during the short call my struggles and difficulties with motivation, memory, concentration, tearfulness, anxiety, fear, days where I can’t face the world, but still I was told he didn't like the word “significant” I asked for a second opinion from a Dr who has met seen me several times. A week later I called the surgery again, (6th call now) to be told the practice all agreed and my form for support from my university would not be signed. I have since been declined any help from my university on the basis of this. The lack of compassion is beyond belief. Portland Drs often won’t see you in person, prescribing over the phone increasing meds to quieten me and now blocking me accessing support from university telling me instead to contact occupational health. May I add I have peers on much milder doses of medication that have had their forms signed by their GPs within days. The university has now declined me any support. I begged for help from a practice I’ve attended since 2015 to be left out to dry feeling alone and desperate wondering if to continue my course, at 46 my life has been blighted by mental illness but according to Portland this is not “significant” enough, maybe I need to self harm? Attempt suicide? What equates to “Significant?” My lecturers and friends have seen my struggles with my work and my determination since September 2022 but Portland fail to see it after 8 years with them. I am hurt and seek to tell anyone with mental health issues to avoid this practice there is no compassion or care. Appointments which are rarely face to face are rushed, you never see the same Dr, follow ups don’t happen, medication is sent to wrong chemists.

Practice manager is a joke (unsure of first name second name I think is Brain or so). One of the Doctors- Dr Sagoo- is extremely rude and obnoxious. No patient manner whatsoever, wants to get you out the door as soon as you set foot in. My grandad was unimpressed with his recent visit to Sagoo too. Woeful approach to patients and patient care- poor overall

My Family and I have moved to this practice only 6 weeks ago. Having moved from my old practice of 45+ years, I can only say this is the best move I have ever done. My previous practice the patients were treated disrespectfully and you was always made to feel the practice is doing you a favour. We have to accept the NHS is operating very differently since Covid, but this practice goes the extra mile. Nothing seems to much of an issue. Yes we all have to wait a week to be seen by the GP for non urgent issues, but this is not the fault of the practice. E-consult works very well and promptly. Telephone appointments are the normal process now at most practices with the doctors here seeing patients the same day, or next day where needed. I have attended with my mum on 2 occasions and the Doctors have been very helpful and patient. You are not rushed once seen and the GP will give you all the time you need. From reading the negative comments on here, patients should respect what an excellent practice this is. Well done to all at Portland Practice, you are a valuable asset to the Aldridge Community.

Don't follow up on important issues regarding health. You are left to do your own leg work when finding out what is potentially causing your illnesses.

Face to face with a Dr is almost impossible no reviews on your medication my medication should have been reviewed 2019 still not done. If you phone don’t expect a triage call for at least a week. Totally unacceptable no wonder A&E is full at walsall Manor Hospital. Used to be first class but now with numerous staff changes they are near to useless.

Mixed bag on this one. To be fair, the admin are quite helpful on the phone and have solved my problems and dealt with me in a very pleasant fashion so can't complain. However, trying to get an appointment is a nightmare. The e consult is okay but sometimes you just need to be examined or seen and it feels like the system is designed to keep people out of the surgery. If you get to see a Doc then they are usually very nice but, as the pandemic is now more manageable, the appointment system could be a lot better.
