Just avoid if you care for your relatives and want to have contact and know that the care home is working in the best interests of residents. They continuously lied and kept us away from my grandma in the last few months of life. They even said she was improving so wouldn’t let too many people visit to say goodbye, she died the next day. This is an experience of many people, very poor management and policies. More bothered about themselves getting into trouble than allowing people the chance to say goodbye.

(Written during the Covid-19 pandemic) My mother has been a care worker for over a decade and currently works here. She has a severly compromised immune system and has been told by her doctor and the government that she must not leave the house for any reason for 12 weeks. After spending 2 weeks trying to contact Lavender Oaks and Porthaven they have refused to furlough her and suggested she go back to work and put her life at risk. They do not care about the welfare of their staff and cannot support care workers during a difficult time.
