I was told to come here from South Leeds after visiting pinderfields a&e for a broken infected painful toe nail, pinderfields were extremely busy, so I drove 19 miles to be seen here. The receptionist was unbothered and didn't really help when I said I hadn't been triaged for 2 hours, I was finally triaged had an xray and wasn't seen again for another hour, I then waited another 40 minutes for medication I arrived at 8.30 and didn't leave until 12.15am I was told to come here due to the quick nature in being seen by the pinderfields receptionist but it ended up being so much longer

Tooth Abscess with swelling all the way to my eye socket, tried my own dentist first and left a message, then 111 with a 12hr waiting list for a call back. Decided to call Pontefract UTC, asked if they can dispense Antibiotics which was yes and the receptionist said they were quiet so now would be a good time to go through. Seen within a few minutes of sitting down in the waiting room, medical history taken and general Obs, reseated, saw a Medical prescriber for some more history and again reseated in the reception. 5 minutes later and a box of antibiotics was handed to me with instructions on how to take them. 20 minutes from arriving to leaving. Excellent service, superb friendly professional staff, 10/10 for efficiency and professionalism. Simply Outstanding ….. I got a call from 111 the following morning at 9.30am.

All staff were helpful, courteous and caring. The unit was busy but all patients appeared to be dealt with in priority and in a timely manner. I was triaged, given analgesia, xrayed and had a full examination with care. A very positive experience. Love our NHS

Current waiting time to be seen by a clinician is 6.5hrs for children (as at Fri 9th Dec 2022). So if you really need to go, pack a bag with snacks, drinks and other essentials your child may need during this time. Receptionist and nurses are polite, professional and approachable and for that I thank you! Edited to say that nurses Sarah and Jim (I hope I got their names right) are fantastic and deserve special recognition. They made us feel very well looked after.

Out of hours GP told us to go there with our young son who has additional needs. We were sent there at 7pm but then advised we wouldn't be seen until after 11pm. At 2am I was stood alone in a corridor and not a single person had seen our son. There wasn't another child waiting as the one before us left at 1am. We were seen at 2:40am after I became so overwhelmed by my sons meltdowns that I actually cried. The receptionist was rude and lacked empathy. We have to return tomorrow anyway as the prescription isn't in stock so it was an absolute waste of time as we could have gone to the usual GP. We were also told that only one parent could attend by the receptionist and my partner was sent away however the waiting room was full of couples and families so that rule obviously only applies when it suits. AVOID.
