I have given 5 stars as if you are in the market for an upmarket swimming pond from scratch I’m sure they will be great. However, I just wanted an existing smallish fish pond lined. Given that I had had the pond drained and de-silted a number of years ago I think I have a pretty good idea what would be involved. I was expecting a fairly affordable quote as I have the facility to leave any dug spoil on site which from the last exercise saved the cost of transport/disposal. I was somewhat surprised when the rough estimate came in at £80K! I asked for a breakdown of this figure but I never got a reply so I think this may of been their way of telling me to go away. So, if you do have a smaller project, you may find these guys are not interested. Additional: You may be struggling to find the "estimate" (see owner response) because, as I stated, it was only an indicative figure. This was sent in a WhatsApp message from Tori Magee on the 8th Nov 2022 in response to the detailed photos, maps and access information I was asked to send to you. I get the impression that one can only get an actual quote, with a work breakdown, if you can get through the initial "filter". Additonal2 Owner response where it was stated estimate never sent has been deleted so I guess they found it! 😀

Michael Wheat Ponds and their team transformed our old leaking pond into the most amazing natural pond, surrounded by plants and pebbles. From the first visit by Tim, and the second, showing us the CGI concept to the completion of the works their service and attention to detail has been second to none. We have been so impressed by their work ethic ( in the freezing snow) and customer service we would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this wonderful Company. We couldn’t be happier. I contacted Ponds by Michael Wheat as the formal pond I had was going to be used for another project and wanted something different. From initial contact everyone I had any dealings with were very professional and friendly from the first site visit. I knew what I wanted but didn’t describe it very well, the planner listened and explained what he thought would work best in the place I wanted it, a wildlife pond. He took photos and footage and sent me a detailed email with computer generated images of what it would look like. The team that came, Mark Caffrey, Craig and Scott, worked long hard hours to complete the pond and it was great to see the development of it. This included with putting in a full days work on the hottest day of the year. Emily and Sarah who liaised with me throughout were also excellent. The fish I transferred from the formal pond were clearly happier with their new home and the water has stayed clear. They have done 2 follow up visits to check the pump equipment was working properly and to explain how it works and to check the water quality. I can’t recommend this company highly enough.

I am delighted with my wildlife pond - my new refuge and favourite place in the garden. Every part of the process has so far gone perfectly: from inquiry, to site survey, design consultation and construction. Final checks and an aftercare visit are still to come but I am confident that these will go without a hitch. I cannot fault the company on its professionalism, communication and practical skills in this field and wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking to create a beautiful, wildlife pond in their garden.
