Pleasant woodland walks, though muddy after rain. Good walking shoes needed. The charcoal burning is interesting. Could do with more information to make it interactive. Not to be attempted on your own unless you know the layout of the woods.

Beautiful old inclosure that has remained completely fenced for centuries. Now managed by a conservation Trust restoring the traditional hazel coppice. Lots of community events, courses and volunteering opportunities, we attended an open day and saw coppicing, charcoal making, working horses and some gorgeous flora and fauna.

With the background of unspoilt woodland the chair making course is a great day out and the volunteers provide a wealth of information and guidance in a friendly laid back environment. If you are lucky enough to secure a place you'll not be disappointed.

The conservation work that has taken place here for the benefit of the wildlife is wonderful. Plenty to see with carvings, charcoal burner and bluebells on the self guided trail. Outdoor courses and volunteering also carried out here if anyone is interested. If you love the forest, this is a must see.

This is such a great initiative, giving a chance for traditional forest skills to be maintained. The work done in recent years has provided an informative self-guided trail, sustainable charcoal production and a huge increase in the number of bluebells flowering. The area is very accessible from Lyndhurst.

I love walking in the New Forest and this is one of my favourite places. The continuing work of the volunteers to make this a unique walk is great to see. The paths are kept clear, there are little areas to explore along the way, I'll not give too much away but you will meet a Dragon!
