Some context - I first gave plydirect a 5 star rating even though my first experience was poor - main issue is delivery. Over a period of time I have spent best part £4000 with plydirect. I thought they had rectified this but I was sadly mistaken - so here it goes... Made two orders 20 mins apart requesting 1 delivery which they acknowledged. Recieved a text stating a problem with delivery driver. Okay I waited. Next text was that they didn't have enough material stock to fulfil the order. Odd because the day before the delivery driver had an issue... So not sure what the driver was going to deliver... Next they asked to deliver separately and I said I wanted 1 delivery. Then i had a confirmed date but They then lost one of the orders and had to recut it. First delivery came and 1 piece was missing which I had to call again and they said they will add to the second delivery that same day. Whilst others may have a had a great experience with plydirect - I havent. Some notes: You will need to chase them. They won't always have stock even though they accept your order - competitor tells you on the website stock holding. 2 to 3 days is not accurate - I had to wait long after my order. The delivery app they use to track is ridiculous - you can see every order and delivery they are making with everyone's addresses which I certainly didn't appreciate. You will be asked to help the driver unload. Comms is vague "sorry for the inconvenience..." etc in a hope the problem will go away. Packaging varies - some have plastic corner protectors and some are shrink wrapped - few of my items had chipped corners but wasn't an issue for my jobs. Could have been a great company as quality of product is excellent but delivery is a major let down. I now use a competitor who are more expensive but I get what I pay for and I am not being messed about and as such plydirect have just lost another £3000 worth of orders this week as I have gone elsewhere. Won't use again.

Damian has just delivered my order from MDF Direct. He has travelled all the way from London to Newton Abbot and now has to return home all that way again, delivering more wood as he goes. We are talking of hundreds of miles, yet he was as fresh as a daisy, unloading my timber and putting it in my workshop for me. He was so pleasant and helpful. Smiling, happy, ready to help and go the extra mile ( no pun intended!) and so fit and energetic, almost flying rather than walking. It was a tonic to see someone so dedicated to their work and with a work ethic that ran off the scales. He is a clear asset to MDF Direct/Ply Direct. I hope they pay him a good wage, he is a huge asset to the company. In addition to being impressed with such careful delivery, I have to also say that due care was applied to the way the timbers were stored safely on the van, and individually wrapped and labelled as per part number. The team back at head office also did a remarkable job at keeping me well informed of the progress of my order and negotiating a suitable time for delivery. All very helpful and always very quick to respond to my messages. You cannot put a price o such good service. I will CERTAINLY be using this company again, I have nothing but praise for them in every aspect of customer service and help Thank you everyone, I am most grateful to you all.

This was my second time ordering from ply direct. The process of ordering was great. Staff are always on hand on the webchat function for any questions. Ordering online is simple. Delivery and communication through the process is great. The staff were always in touch and made sure we had a speedy delivery. The product was well wrapped and perfectly cut to size. Very happy and would definitely recommend.

Ply direct WILL mess you around, be under no illusions. Not once have they stuck to any delivery promises listed on their website. I've ordered 4 times now. For fairly cheap quotes to cut bits of plywood cut to the nearest 1mm/1.5mm, with cheap delivery they are good. But that is it. The 24 hour order/delivery window isn't a thing. If you have any problems with your order (expected) you will be communicating with ply direct Via a call centre in the Philippines - no matter how hard you try you will no be able to speak to anyone that can actively help. Call centre girls are lovely though - all be it they have been employed by ply direct as a barrier between the customer and themselves. It's a shame because it's a great business model, it just doesn't work if you are doing more than DIY and need stuff delivered before a specific date. Also cutting can be shoddy. Takeaway - DIY yes/Business No

I'm a DIYer, second time I've dealt with this company, every time it's like a kind of ideal sales interaction, the teams running this company seem like superhumans, they just do everything right. Online interface is quick and easy, online chat is actually useful, they give you stuff you didn't even know you wanted to know, then they keep in touch right up until delivery, even the carriers seem just nicer and friendlier than other companies. Wood always perfect, cut to size. So many pro builders' merchants are really unpleasant to deal with if you're a 'civilian'! Not these people.

Website is nice, chat feature is decent. Reliability is awful. Seemingly say what you need to hear so you make an order and then don’t deliver when they say they will. Even if you ask before ordering, and check again before it due to be delivered you’ll be let down. Leaving your plans in ruins. Can’t recommend.
