They don't sharpen the hire skates!! I've been skating my entire life (30+ years) but don't own skates in the UK. I couldn't move when I got on the ice, no grip on either blade to push off from. For me, it was as strange as suddenly not being able to walk. I went back for a different pair, and explained what was wrong, asking for a pair that had recently been sharpened. "We don't sharpen the hire skates," said the fella behind the counter. Perplexed, I asked "Why?" "Because there are too many," he shrugged. I can't fathom how they have the gumption to charge £35 for skating for two, and can't be bothered to sharpen the skates! The second pair I was given wasn't so dire, but the situation on the ice was a bit chaotic, with several figure skating coaches coaching students at the same time, and not sticking to the middle, so having to dodge people making turns without looking etc. Then a family started playing football with a hockey puck. Where was the marshal?

Love it here, great atmosphere, nice people, if youre experienced or just for a laugh it's a great place to be, had an anxiety attack a few weeks ago and was cared for very well by the staff and freinds I have met there. I do feel however that a refurbishment is desperately needed, the place is looking tired, bits of rubber missing in the floor so be careful where you put your newly sharpened blades, toilets are messy, the rink itself has suffered from puddles lately and isn't resurfaced often enough, won't stop me coming but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention it.

Planet ice is a favourite with us.skating or learning new skills is good fun. The car park is £2 for 2 hours £2.40 on the app. Lockers need a pound for your shoes if you've brought skates. Always people who will share their knowledge and experience if you ask them. I'll be back

Came here with the kids. We all had a lovely time but I do have one reservation: The rental skates were so uncomfortable to wear they were painful. I could only skate for about 15m before needing a 15m break for my feet to recover. I did try different sizes and securing them in different ways as suggested. Now, the morning after, I have welts on the insides of my feet. There must have been bolts inside the boots digging into my feet. How did these boots pass health and safety??
