    Part of the Pennine Way, the path is usually mud-free to the trig point, and not bad further onwards. Fabulous views all round. Dogs have to be on lead from 1st of March to 31st July due to ground nesting birds, and cycling is not permitted.

    Oh it was foggy when we hiked up there on a Saturday morning. But the misty scenery, glimpses of the moors and the calls of wild birds, were breathtaking enough to keep walking up to the beacon from Clogger Lane. A miniature ‘pilgrimage’ on its own.
