I have been using a 21 plate partner van since July 21 as my company vehicle.. over the last few months I have been increasingly feeling sick.. started suffering from tiredness and headaches.. with very saw eyes.. then I was experiencing dizziness while driving.. which was very scary.. then a irregular heart beat started happening day and night..lack of concentration kept happening.. I was becoming increasingly worried kept doing covid tests thinking it could be that.. but all negative.. then started to think maybe I'm seriously ill.. causing alot of stress and anxiety. Had been taking the odd day off work from illness as I do alot of miles and driving was becoming harder due to extreme tiredness.. beginning of this week we had a frost. So I started the van to defrost it.. came back to it to go to work.. opened the door and fumes smacked me in the face.. which shocked me and straight away I new it wasn't right especially being a new van.. so went to work took it to a garage.. explained to him what had happened.. he checked it to find the turbo has been leaking fumes.. to be precise Carbon Monoxide straight into the cab.. I was gob smacked.. to find out why I had been feeling ill all this time.. I'd been getting doses of this 5 days a week 8hrs a day! I do alot of miles.. I commute to Thatcham and Reading every day! Which is an hour and a half each way.. The van is already on 15 thousand miles! I am so lucky to be alive and very lucky I didn't pass out while driving and injure other people.. its very lucky I found the problem.. otherwise I would still be getting exposed right now! I'm going for and ECG today due to the irregular heart it caused and blood tests..my doctor said I'm very lucky to still be here it could have been fatal!!
