Took my family cat here last week when he was unwell. The covid policies in place are ridiculous. NOWHERE still has rules this strict - my father was recently in hospital where they reduced restrictions a couple of months ago and is now in a care home where they dropped the need for mask wearing and distancing last month… so for a VET to still have these incredibly strict rules in place when there’s no evidence animals suffer worse from covid is, to me, very suspicious. They make you wait outside when you arrive and throughout, regardless of weather. We saw an older gentleman having to lean up against a pole in the rain because he wasn’t allowed in to sit with his cat. Their general attitude is cold and unfriendly. They come and collect your pet, take them in and treat them after a brief consultation on the doorstep, then bring out an extortionate bill which you can’t really query as they’ve already done all the treatments. This is the most expensive vet I have ever been to by a country mile. I fully believe that they’ve kept their strict covid policies because it enables them to take and treat pets without the owner present to discuss treatment options, so they are able to charge more when they’ve done the work they feel like. If that is true, it’s very cunning and seems to be working for them. I certainly will never, ever go back. I couldn’t afford to. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to post a review but I really did want to advise anyone and everyone to find almost any other vet in town - your experience will be superior and your wallet will thank you!

Picked up my daughters cat from here, staff seem friendly. You still have to wait outside, you cannot enter. Staff still wear masks so found it difficult to understand what they were saying about the animals aftercare post surgery.

I appreciate this place as they treat my cat Gin Gin as much as they can despite his medical condition. Their effort is truly valuable. Been visiting them both at Woolston and Thornhill. Somewhat affordable, of course, but the insurance is certainly a must. Not a big fan of the location in Thornhill as there is not much waiting space outside and considering current Covid threat, we cannot wait inside, which is understandable. Despite that, would recommend, very good service.

They told me that if I didn't allow them to do multiple treatments at once that minute (including flea treatment when the had only been flea treated a week ago) they would die. No empathy. They also were unclear about how they'd reached this conclusion, but hadn't had them long enough to have actually tested for anything they were claiming was wrong. And you aren't allowed inside with your pets. It's all very shady and secretive, and downright cruel. I had to remove my pets (which are withheld from you until payment is received) and take them to a different vet, who was FURIOUS about how this had all gone down.

I rarely write negative reviews but our experience here has left me with little choice. We took our hamster to this vet for an emergency appointment on a Sunday as no other vets were open. When we arrived we were borderline criticised by the vet for not being registered there. After completing a registration form the vet cast a glancing eye over the hamster while asking some questions and took him into the store to examine him. She returned moments later stating that it looked like he had a problem with his hips of legs, possibly from some trauma (such as a fall) and that we could either give him painkillers and hope it recovers, have an x-ray to confirm the suspected issue, or to have him put down. Moments later, she had noticed that both of his legs weren't working properly and told us that he has to be put down, now. We were told to say goodbye and was made to feel rushed to just get it over and done with. She gave him a sedative and we said goodbye; moments later she returned with him in a box with a flower on top. £120 for 15 minutes work and not a lick of empathy (or even patience). But here's the real kicker; it is January 2023 and we weren't allowed in the store whatsoever due to COVID restrictions! This is the only store in the UK that I am aware of that still insists people aren't allowed inside whatsoever due to COVID. This means that our entire visit was conducted outside the store, in the freezing cold. We could not be with our pet except for a quick goodbye on a main road in the (literally) freezing cold. The chap on reception was as helpful and friendly as he could be but the whole process felt as though we were an inconvenience the vet just wanted out of the way ASAP. We will not be using this vet again.

The staff are lovely but Monique is very cold and doesn't seem to like animals at all. It's all about money. I don't drive and was made to wait outside while my cat was checked over and then had to wait for a further 30 minutes in freezing temperatures for a taxi. One of the ladies did take my cat inside for about 5 minutes but I had to wait outside. Will definitely not be going back there. Would not recommend.
