I am reviewing the Spa in Pendley Manor Hotel. A friend and I visited on April 11th 2023. The Spa facilities are only accessible by a set of stairs going down underground to the cellars of the hotel. There is no banister rail on these stairs neither was there on any of the sets of stairs in the corridors and a steep set of steps up to the swimming pool. There was no ramp into the hotel entrance only steps and one member of the Spa staff gave us to understand there was no lift in the hotel either. I cannot believe that this Spa meets the criteria for the Disability Equality Duty required by all public services neither can I believe that it meets Health and Safety Criteria. It is not compliant with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act . There is no warning on the website that the Spa is not suitable for disabled people which is not helpful. I have mobility problems and Walk with a stick so it was very difficult for me to manage the sets of stairs without any rails. Every time we left the swimming pool we had to negotiate long corridors and stairs so it was not very convent at all. I don’t know how wheelchair users would access the Spa which makes it discriminatory. My Friend is not disabled in any way but could not believe there were no rails or bannisters on any of the sets of steps up or down. The Spa treatments themselves were excellent and the staff were lovely and friendly. I had a back massage and a facial both performed by Katie who was an absolute delight and a very good therapist. It was the best facial I have ever had. The two course lunch provided was also first class both in choice and quality. It’s such a shame that the Spa facilities are let down by their placement and the access to them as it rather marred the day
