Booked a two-night weekend here instead of being fleeced in York. Absolutely no regrets - Harmony House is an interesting old house with modern facilities that combines hotel standard comfort with a homely Yorkshire welcome, plus an excellent breakfast in terms of choice, quality and quantity. It's easy to get into York (drive to nearby Park&Ride or get the local 42 bus), and also makes a good centre for touring North Yorks. Owner Adele is very warm, hands-on, and obviously passionate about giving guests a great experience while maintaining high standards. Stillingfleet is a small place with historic character (the little 12th century church is worth a look). No pub within walking distance but plenty of choice for eating/drinking within 10 mins drive, including the extraordinarily good modern Italian restaurant Burro in a converted windmill at Riccall. We really enjoyed our stay and will likely return.

Harmony House is in a lovely setting, conveniently located for visiting York, and the main routes for the surrounding areas. Adele is a very attentive and welcoming host, taking time to chat & give helpful recommendations to her guests. We stayed in the Poppy room. It was spacious and very clean. The bed was comfortable, and made for a great nights sleep. We’re really looking forward to coming back later in the year!

Travelled up for a couple of nights attending a wedding nearby and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Adele looked after us before and during the stay, answering all our questions promptly and providing us a seamless guide for late check in, as well our delicious breakfast! The property itself is lovely and we stayed in the Poppy room which was really nice. Could not recommend the place highly enough, and thanks again to Adele!

Stayed between Christmas & New Year. Balance taken for room before arrival. The building was cold on arrival. Offered tea in a cold sitting room: tea, milk & a small mince pie - no sugar or sweetner. Our room temperature was 15C (had room thermometer in our possession for other reasons). Host said heating had just come on, but room warmed quickly and additional electric radiator in cupboard if needed. Took 2 hours to get room temp to 19C with house heating & electric radiator (small room in eves). Polycotton bed linen, thin pillows, basic cotton towels & only 1 hand towel for 2 people. No additional blankets. No biscuits in room, no top up of milk or water bottles in fridge for 2nd day. Cooked breakfast offered but no additional cereals / preserves /or more tea. Arrived back at 18.15 on 2nd day: the heating was just coming on - asked for 2nd electric radiator and felt as if I was complaining. Temp at 7am 15C and heating just coming on - getting up for breakfast at 8am. Radiators outside the room cold. No other guests.

Our family enjoyed afternoon tea here. The staff and owner were so accommodating. We had a mix of dietary requirements between us and they did not falter. They looked after us so well. We will most definitely use them again.
