It isn’t boring, in fact it’s quite interactive and pretty much everyone can learn something. They cater from aged 5 and up, with soft toys for the small ones to grab their attention through the full party manifestos. Kids get to think about what is important to them, many of them talking about the environment and social issues. These get put on the wall alongside the opportunity to vote both with stickers and in a ballot box. The approach is quite free-flow between the 4 main spaces (commons, lords, monarchy, video room) with people in each, except the designated ‘quiet room’ (Monarchy room). Definitely go watch the video, if you can do this first as it brings the process alive and helps the other sections make sense … unless you’ve already got constitutional monarchy through the centuries down. The booking process is a little opaque - with a delay between booking and conformation - but essentially you get 1 hour in the centre and a 1 hour tour. Do turn up 15 mins before (as advised) they have to unlock the door to let you in. And take note that it’s the Lambeth-bridge end of Parliament. They provide for both schools and home educators (and crucially know the difference), with sufficient knowledgable staff on hand. They’re quite eager to help, but not pushy. The tours follow a path but aren’t regimented and allow space for questions. In our case, we got to see the Lords in live session. Btw, if visiting in winter, take your coat on the tour - it’s cold, especially Wesminster Hall!
