Rooms: The caravan we had suited our needs Nearby activities: Loads to do out and about Scarborough and Filey just on the doorstep. North Yorkshire Moors Railway not far - an excellent day out. Plenty to do on and off the park. Safety: The speed of vehicles on the park needs addressing. There are too many children on the park for the speed of some guests and also the Park's house keeping vehicle does not need to do the speeds it does, and drive on footpaths in front of caravans. Elm 1 was our caravan and on three occasions, at least we were hastily stopped coming down our steps due to house keeping vehicle flying down the footpath. Glad I didn't have our Grandchildren with us as they would possibly not be as alert towards vehicles moving on footpaths. This is the second time we have been to Cayton Bay and on both occasions commented about speed of vehicles, it's not good or safe and appears the Park does not listen to safety concerns. Walkability: Walkability readily available but becareful of vehicles moving too fast on site, including the Parks Vehicles! Food & drinks: Ate on site in the restaurant and used the street food shacks. Definitely value for money. Food hot, made to order. Staff appear to be unorganised in a morning, whether short staff or not I don't know, but the rest of the time they were friendly and polite. Store provides a good range of goods, some niceties a little expensive, but overall affordable we thought.

Not sure why this review is asking me about hotel rooms? The site is lovely, well set out, plenty of activities, well stocked shop, family pub. The site itself is very clean and with recycling facilities. However, there were issues with the caravan cleanliness. When we arrived there were significant amounts of dog hair and biscuit crumbs around every button on the sofa. There was enough to be highly visible as soon as we entered the caravan. The duvet cover had large blood stains on it in several places. It had clearly been washed several times but the blood was very visible. The ( nylon!) mattress protector was worse.. I daren't look at the mattress but after reporting it I was told that there were no replacement mattress protectors available. When I said that the bedding needed disposing of I was told that it is sent off to be cleaned and the same bedding comes back and is used no matter what the condition is. Why would the camp accept it? Why do staff put it on the beds? What impression do they think it gives? The young man who came to change the bedding had a runny nose and left the room smelling of BO. Finally, the stained bedding was put in an opaque bag and left at the end of our caravan, at the side of the path for three days, looking as though one of us was incontinent or had been sick. By that time I just wanted to enjoy our holiday, not spending my time thinking about the mattress or chasing up about the bedding outside. Very disappointing when the rest of the camp looked great. Made us wonder what else unsavoury was happening that we didn't see.
