I sat in a chair at Hyde park, without seeing a sign, and within a minute of sitting there, a worker in a bright yellow vest comes out of no where and asks me “cash or card” I then say “oh sorry, and no thanks.” (i did not know I couldn’t sit there). Then he says you should have read the sign then, don’t you see it?”Then he says “get up” in the rudest way possible and then proceeds to walk away like a child. And I told him to watch his attitude and to calm down. Mind you these chairs are out in the grass right in front of the pond with signs only at the front. These people are sneaky people, that think they can get money out of you. Do not sit or go anywhere near this place, (scattered all around Hyde park) , just sit in the grass. This business tactic and customer service treatment is not a good way to run a business and gain customers and get good reviews.

Absolute con. Bloke tried to charge us for sitting on some deck chairs which in any other park would be completely free. Saw no signage indicating we had to pay. There a is free seating everywhere else in the park. The council should ban this practice.

Absolutely lousy and appalling that the deck chairs are put out all over the place with no information that it's not free and is charged to sit down. When I told the guy who came to take payment he pointed to an obscure, far away hidden sign board with rates on them. Had to pay £3 pounds for an hour to rest my tush on a deck chair. I urge the park deckchair management to put notices on the chairs with charges and payment instructions on the chairs rather than a tiny practically invisible sign hidden some place with rates on it. Really lousy to charge people to sit on these really old and dilapidated chairs that must have offset the cost of the chairs themselves dozens of times already. For anyone reading this, Better just sit on the grass or any of the benches or even the fallen down branches rather than sit on these over priced deck chairs. I am going to buy a deck chair and inscribe on it "free to use deck chair" and leave it in regents park next time I am over !!!
