this is a strange story.. a stand up lamp i bought about 2 years ago broke.. the metal piece which screws the base to the metal pole got worn out the tread had become damaged and a kept postponing trying to fix it. i took it to b and q and asked an employee for assistance.. i knew if i could push the large screw piece downwards there would be undamaged thread i could screw in.. anyway i got no help at b and q.. i saw a customer at the area selling screws and asked for help.. he told me to go to padley engineering near by and gave me the location and contact.. i used the tomtom and reached the workshop.. the kind gentleman used a blow torch to release the screw so there was undamaged thread.. and he wouldn't accept payment.. what can i say... thanks so much.. the lamp is now 100% fixed and that's great..otherwise i would have had to throw it out.
