FAQ

What is the teacher-to-student ratio in your Montessori classrooms?

At Oxford Montessori Schools Forest Farm School, we maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio to ensure that each child receives individualized attention and guidance. Our ratio is typically around 1:10, although it may vary slightly depending on the age group and specific classroom.

How do you incorporate technology into your Montessori curriculum?

While we believe in the importance of hands-on, experiential learning in the Montessori method, we also recognize the value of technology in today's world. We incorporate technology into our curriculum in a balanced way, using educational apps, digital resources, and interactive whiteboards to supplement our lessons and provide additional opportunities for learning.

Do you offer any after-school programs or extracurricular activities for students?

Yes, we offer a variety of after-school programs and extracurricular activities for our students. These may include options such as music lessons, art classes, sports teams, and language clubs, among others. We believe in providing a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom and allows each child to pursue their interests and passions.

How do you assess student progress and provide feedback to parents?

We use a variety of assessment tools in our Montessori classrooms, including observation, checklists, and work journals, among others. We also provide regular progress reports and parent-teacher conferences to keep parents informed of their child's development and progress. Our goal is to work collaboratively with families to support each child's growth and learning.

What is your approach to discipline and classroom management in the Montessori environment?

Our approach to discipline and classroom management is rooted in the Montessori philosophy of respect for oneself, others, and the environment. We create a peaceful, orderly classroom environment that promotes independence, responsibility, and self-discipline. We encourage positive behavior through modeling, clear expectations, and natural consequences, and we work with each child to develop problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Genuinely extremely disappointed with this school. We moved to the area in part for our two boys to go to this school. Whilst the concept sounds appealing and particularly the head teacher promises a lot, we have been let down on multiple fronts, including academic, social and emotional. The Montessori approach did not work at all for the two classes our boys were in and by all accounts chaos, and violence reigned with no meaningful learning or safety or security to grow. We were told that the school would “shadow” national curriculum which is not true, it was clear that teachers did not understand our children’s academic ability/level when questioned and stag could not quote or describe the schools reading policy, instead sighting a personal belief / philosophy which was vague and incomplete. Discipline was appalling, with “good” children being singled out to be the “judge” of others/the group, and directly compared to others “would XXX behave like that? No they wouldn’t” which shames both the good and bad behaving children. When raising concerns with the head her response was, effectively, “take it or leave it, we have a large waiting list”. Never usually write reviews but feel so strongly that I have a duty to warn other parents. We have taken both our boys out after a year which is obviously hugely disruptive.

education is alright, left this school emotionally scarred, all in all it's not that great. I hear they're making kids go into school in teir 4 lockdown, and they've banned social distancing and masks.

My daughter attended Forest Farm for four years. She developed both academically and personally and loved the learning environment. The combination of great teachers and the wonderful location made for a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend to any prospective parents.
