  Absolute shambles of a place to work , went here to work for 2 days had me moving boxes in large amounts which I didn't mind although it wasn't on the description, anyway they very vaguely showed me what to do in the rooms and when I say that I mean barely and expected me just to know the rest of it, n when they found out that I didn't know how they're tea trays are set up they doubted me of having a job in this before (I've had several cleaning jobs in the past) stuck up there own arses if you ask me, and they can't even pay people on time I had my 2 shifts 2 weeks or more ago now and I'm still waiting for my pay.

  Had lunch here. Booked ahead although we were the only diners! Food fantastic. Asked for a different Vegetarian option as the menu risotto wasn't fancied, the chef gave several alternatives. Gnocchi in a creamy sauce was chosen which was fantastic. I had Striped Bass also delicious. Desert and coffee. What a lovely lunch. Maitre d and waitress polite and chatty. Great location. A little pricey but worth it for a treat.

  I went for afternoon tea. I didn't stay at the hotel. For £25 each this is very mediocre. You don't get asked which sandwiches you would like, they give you a premade stand. I hate mustard (ham and mustard) I also hate horseradish (beef and horseradish) so the choice for me was pretty slim. If only they'd asked us to choose our fillings at the beginning. It would be a small change which would make a big difference. The small sweet treats were just frozen party food items like you would get from Iceland. None of these were homemade and were very poor quality. The scone, however, was lovely. It looked like it was homemade and was slightly warm. The coffee came in a teapot and was lukewarm. £50 for the 2 of us. The service was great. I definitely can't fault that. The lady and the man who served us were lovely. The hotel is a very pleasant setting, but I would not go for afternoon tea again, nor would I recommend it to my friends.

  Newly opened Spa with the ladies. £35 for 2 hours March 2023. This evening session included use of 2 hot tubs, cool (and beautifil) pool, sauna and steam. Man on reception at spa was lovely warm and curtious. Signage and lighting on driveway was poor and the sign that was there had a wheelie bin in from of it. Thank the heavens for google maps and satnav. The surrounding area seemed beautiful and was surrounded by trees. Would love to go back during daylight to get full grounds experience. Place was spotlessly clean throughout. We had a lovely evening.

  This review is only about the restaurant. Where to begin? After trying for umpteen times to book a table for Sunday lunch only to be told they were fully booked each time, we were very happy to get a table today as we'd been told they do the best Sunday lunch in the area. On arrival we were shown to a lounge area and ordered drinks for the four of us. After much confusion whether Prosecco was available by the glass (young inexperienced waitress lacking knowledge or training) we were handed the food menu. We knew that Sundays were about Sunday lunch but only four choices for main course was disappointing. Two meat choices; beef or pork. One fish dish and one vegetarian. The biggest disappointment was for my wife, who is vegetarian. Cauliflower Steak!! Had it been just the two of us, we'd have left. But we had friends with us so didn't want to disappoint them. Having been shown to the dining room, which was okay but characterless our food arrived. We'd opted for two courses (main and dessert) for £35. My roast beef was too pink for my taste (I wasn't asked beforehand how I'd like it done so the bloody centres I wrapped in my napkin, paper one, not linen, to take home for my dog) and though sliced very thin was tough and sinewy in places. My wife's Cauliflower Steak was precisely that - a slice of cauliflower that had been chargrilled! Seriously, in this day and age there needs to be more thought given to non-meat eaters. I really don't view £22 for a slice of cauliflower as good value. As to the accompanying vegetables, each of our plates had one, yes one, roast potato, some red cabbage, a couple of slices each of parsnip and carrot and some cauliflower with a cheesy truffle sauce. There was absolutely no green veg of any kind. Some green beans, broccoli or kale would have been welcome. Gravy came in a separate jug. Our desserts, when they eventually arrived, were delicious but way overpriced for the size of portion. Two coffees and one tea were ordered. The coffee came in the teapot and the tea in the coffee pot! No teaspoons. Only two cups. Something really amiss in the kitchen I think. The coffee was not very good at all either. One particularly off-putting thing was the inch long acrylic fingernails on the waitress' fingers. She actually had trouble picking things up from the table. These nails have absolutely no place in the hospitality industry. I don't blame the waitress as I know they are the fashion but management should have had a word. Total bill? Four people, main and dessert, two glasses of prosecco, two pints of beer, two coffees, one tea. £164. Will we return? Er, no!

  We booked for a 60th celebration Sunday lunch 5th march 2023 fit 10 people expecting the food of a top chef as advertised. We ended up all sending our food back having the worst experience ever. Then to be told he doesn't work Sundays. This was stage because when we booked they initially told us they where full but then said they could fit us in asking for a deposit. When we arrived no one was there we thought we were in the wrong place. It was dreadful. It ruined the celebration and we all went home hungry. I hate giving bad reviews but we travel along way and expected what was advertised a top chef at Ox Pesture Hall.

  Our first time staying at the ox pasture and wow 🤩 from our amazing room to the most delicious food but the best part of the experience has to be the staff 10/10 for the team who go out of there way to make your stay as purfect as possible. Will definitely be returning.
