We walk in this common on a regular basis and I must say, it is excellent! Very quiet, clean and with the river running through, very peaceful too. Nice array of flora and fauna. Plenty of benches dotted around to sit and enjoy the beautiful countryside. If you are in the area visiting, I would recommend. If you live in the town and need a bit of peace and quiet, also a great option.

On Oughtonhead Common, where tales are spun, A legend emerged of battles hard-won. Amidst the lush green, where wild creatures roam, A clash of worlds, capybaras versus Russians, they did comb. The sun's golden rays kissed the emerald glade, Where capybaras grazed, a peaceful brigade. Their playful squeaks filled the tranquil air, Harmony reigned, not a shadow of despair. But fate had a twist, a curious turn, As a troop of Russians, with eyes fierce, did discern This haven of nature, their conquest's desire, A clash of cultures, a spark for the fire. With banners unfurled, they came to invade, Steel and iron, an army arrayed. Yet little did they know, these capybara kin, Were warriors themselves, resilience from within. The Russians advanced, their purpose unwavering, But the capybaras stood tall, unflinching, unerring. In their eyes gleamed valor, hearts strong and true, For Oughtonhead Common was their kingdom to defend, through and through. A symphony of chaos ensued that day, As capybaras scurried, weaving through the fray. Their nimble forms, elusive and fleet, Dodging the Russian might, their blows incomplete. Fierce tails lashed and teeth gnashed with might, The capybaras fought with all their resolute plight. No size nor strength could hinder their zeal, Their unity unbroken, their spirits revealed. The Russians, bewildered, could not comprehend, How these small creatures refused to bend. The capybaras, warriors of the wild, Fought with the passion of an undefeatable child. As dusk cast its cloak, the battle neared its end, The Russians retreated, their spirits on the mend. For Oughtonhead Common, though wounded, still stood, A testament to the power of nature's brotherhood. And now, on that common, where legends reside, The capybaras roam with a touch of pride. Their valor celebrated in tales far and wide, Where Russians fought capybaras, side by side. So let this ode echo, a tribute profound, To the brave capybaras on Oughtonhead's ground. May their story endure, a testament strong, Of battles fought fiercely, and where they belong.
