Otter Surfboards is a great place if you are interested in surfing. I have been to multiple workshops now and would definitely recommend making a surfboard, handplane or belly board here. James and the crew are really helpful in helping you learn all the tools you need and they make incredible surfboards that will last a lifetime and can be handed down through generations. Not only are the Surfboards much more sustainable and made from natural materials, the wooden boards are pieces of art in their own right. Great to be displayed on the wall but also built to be ridden. I would definitely recommend making something at Otter Surfboards.

I recently spent the week with James and the team making my own wooden surfboard and it was one of the most fulfilling, satisfying experiences of my life. I am one of the least hands on, capable people out there, but James was on hand every step of the way and never once did I feel overwhelmed or unable to do it. I can't wait to pick up the board and see if it floats! Much love to James, Al, Buddy and the rest of the Otter crew.

Would highly recommend! Had an brilliant time building a Barque surfboard with my dad for my 30th birthday present. Cutting, building and finishing the board reminded me of how much I missed wood working and you get to do this all in the beautiful scenery of Cornwall's north coast. I bought a 'build a wooden surfboard' experience for my partner as a 30th birthday gift, and I am so grateful to James and the team for making it such a memorable and special experience for him. Otter Surfboards made booking the experience very easy, answering my many questions in a prompt and friendly manner. They made my partner feel so welcome, and took the time to show him and the other guests around the area, as well as inviting me into the workshop to see how everyone was progressing with their boards over the week (and have some time with Buddy, the resident workshop doggo!). It is by far the best gift I have ever been able to give my partner, and I cannot recommend Otter Surfboards enough!

James helps you find the board hidden within the raw blocks of wood, bringing them together, pairing them down, teasing out the shape - the experience was theraputic and exactly the tonic needed after years of work-from-home.
