FAQ

What measures do you take to ensure the safety and security of students on your premises?

We take the safety and security of our students very seriously at Osborne Nursery School. We have strict security procedures in place, including secure entrances and exits, CCTV monitoring, and ID checks for anyone entering the premises. In addition, all our staff members are trained in safeguarding and first aid, and we have regular safety drills to ensure that everyone knows what to do in the event of an emergency.

What is your staff to child ratio?

Our staff to child ratio varies depending on the age group of the children. For children under 2 years old, we have a ratio of 1 staff member to 3 children. For children aged 2-3, the ratio is 1:4, and for children aged 3-5, it is 1:8. We always ensure that we have enough staff members on duty to meet these ratios.

What type of curriculum do you use?

At Osborne Nursery School, we use a play-based curriculum that is designed to help children learn through exploration and discovery. We believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences, so our curriculum is focused on providing a range of activities and opportunities for children to explore their interests and develop their skills.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm. We offer both full-time and part-time places, and parents can choose from a range of sessions to suit their needs. We are closed on weekends and bank holidays.

What is your policy on potty-training?

We work closely with parents to ensure that children are potty-trained at the right time for them. Our policy is to support children through the potty-training process, providing guidance and encouragement as needed. We ask parents to provide spare clothes and nappies/pull-ups, and we work with them to develop a consistent approach to potty-training that can be used at home and at nursery.

I am new to the area and have a 6 month old baby, I wanted to engage in the community by taking my daughter to play group. I have worked closely with children's centres (different locality) throughout my career and thought it would be the perfect way to start and introduce my daughter to a children's centre to engage and socialise and for me to make new mummy/daddy friends. I walked into the osbourne childrens centre to gain some information/time table of different groups me and my daughter could join, a lady opened the door to me and I explained I would like a timetable and to know of groups that run within the centre, the lady handed me time table and said all 5 locality childrens centres are in there and she walked away leaving me alone in reception looking through the time table, I did not felt welcome here, she did not introduce herself, she did not ask anything about my daughter- age/ needs ect I felt really disappointed and deflated. I am a first time mummy who has many years experience working with children and thankfully mine and my daughters journey has been very smooth so far, however I couldn't help but think if my story was different and I was struggling within some aspects of my life e.g postnatal depression, anxiety etc!! I am hoping this was just a one off and I am aware of the amazing work children centres do for families and I am going to take the time to visit the other centres within the locality and hope my experience is more positive.
