It is 08:30, most people are still asleep, albeit on their feet. I have been receiving emails telling me that I have a parcel to collect which will be returned in 2 days if not collected. I had a feeling that I had already collected and phoned to ask if there was a parcel, and to confirm this was not a scam... The lady who answered was extremely helpful and searched for the parcel and confirmed that there was nothing there. She took the time and was very helpful. Thank you, Orpins is a great store, not the cheapest but always friendly.

All I wanted was a ball of string, I didn’t want to go to Tesco and deliberately sought out an independent enroute, they had the string I needed and I also decided to buy a couple of chocolate bars too. I went to the counter to pay, then went to pay by card because as a rule I generally don’t carry any cash on me but was told minimum £5 spend. I already had two chocolate bars extra to my requirements but obviously not enough I had to spend £5 and was offered various ways to spend £5 or more but I didn’t need anything else and wasn’t prepared to be told how much I should be paying, that’s my choice as a customer. Now I know the argument for them as they have to pay a processing fee per card transaction but like most businesses they also have to pay the bank for paying in cash too, so this seems very shortsighted. On principle I left the shop and ended up going to Tesco anyway, which I was trying to avoid in the first place. Sadly the only winner in all of this was Tesco as there were no barriers for me spending how much I wanted for what I actually needed. This is not how it should be
