I am posting my horrendous journey with onthemove and ackroyd, both parties have cost me a loss. Onthmove are not registered with PRS or ombudsman. I raised my complaint with Ombudsman and I am trying to explore how to complain about onthmove. Onthemove don't give a toss . If I could give a zero rating I will. Becareful using onthemove they are not registered with a body I learnt my lesson and working very hard to resolve my issues

Signed up with onthemoov to ensure the process was smooth and efficient, and I also received a good quote. Was assigned a paralegal at Ackroyd Legal. The paralegal was very slow, non responsive to my emails, very poor communication so had to keep chasing Chloe for an update. Chloe was good at responding and providing me with an update when prompted. I hadn't heard anything for 4 weeks after all the ID and funds verification, turns out the paralegal was doing nothing for 4 weeks and only started working on my case once I kept asking for an update. Then there was a delay from the sellers solicitors providing a draft contract, which my solicitors had no urgency chasing. After 12 weeks and many emails to Chloe as there was still no progress, I then received a call from the manager Ollie. The manager is an absolute tool with no customer service skills, as he called me and the first thing he said was "I just wanted to call to clarify things as you are contradicting yourself in your emails". Who starts off the conversation like that?! He then tried to pass the blame solely onto the sellers solicitors, but then couldn't justify why the paralegal from my solictors had done nothing for 4 weeks. Its taken 16 weeks for a simple first time buyer to purchase a property that was not in a chain and no complications. How easier could it be?! Price- Absolute scam, was given an inaccurate skeleton quote of £1,562.40, but at the end I ended up paying £2,036.40 in total. I can understand a discrepancy but this is ridiculous. Called OntheMoov about this and they did not care. Please do not use this company, they are absolutely shocking. Terrible customer service and false fees. Just go straight to a solicitors, it will be more efficient and cheaper! Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fee you pay is not fixed! They referred me to poor solicitors who were using paralegals for conveyancing. They were mindlessly asking to take third party indemnity policies when they were not needed and not asked by any other conveyancers. Their communication was not always professional. In one email, the owner started shouting by replying all in capitals! It costed me lot more than their quote contrary to what they claim which is misleading. Costs are not always financial and I had to endure extreme stress and costed several hours to pay "no more"! You will notice that they will charge you a file opening fee in addition to the search fees. This appears to be their profit. If you go directly to the solicitors, they won't be charging you this fees. So, if your purchase doesn't go ahead, then you will lose only search fee but with them you will lose lot more. Another thing I was not happy about was that they lied to me that the searches were requested as expedited when they were not! I came to know only later on in the process. Don't get fooled by their search fee guarantee! It's only valid for 6 months. So, if you purchase not go ahead then you do need to find some new property within 6 months from original date which requires a miracle and not possible for majority of people. I paid double the standard legal fees to their solicitors to buy extra time. The fact my contracts were exchanged early was simply due to this fact and also that my mortgage was approved very early and seller's solicitors were very quick. Don't get fooled by Onthemove's claim that their solicitors got my contract exchanged. They have a rating of 3.8 on Trust pilot and I am not happy with them. I ended up paying lot more than their "fixed fee". Avoid like a plague....

On the whole onthemove have been professional, however if they have assigned you over to a conveyancing firm called PCS Legal you're in for a bumping ride. The stress that PCS Legal gave me due to lack of communication and incompetence was not acceptable (please see their reviews on Google for yourself). However, onthemove did intervene and push PCS Legal on my behalf which did eventually lead to completion. I have made my comments clear to onthemove, for the purpose of their own business, they should drop PCS Legal.

I thought buying a house in the UK whilst residing in Denver, USA would be problematic and quite frankly it couldn’t have been easier.   I searched the web for a lawyer and found onthemove who sent me a quote instantly to carry out the legal undertaking of my purchase.   Although it took a while due to ID verification I had completed 13 weeks after instructing the recommended lawyers.
