I found about Indy and got his contact at a wedding event. This was three months ago. I reached out on Whatsapp and enrolled into his course from here in US. Indy who lives and teaches online from UK in now my dhol instructor ( "Ustad" or "Dojo" ) In eight online classes thus far I have learnt the basics of dhol, chaal, and can play comfortably to form a passion for the instrument. He is a passionate teacher, disciplined, patient and very observant of the mistakes and immediate correction of the same. I was amazed at his knowledge of the technical details of the art and his ability to translate it in a simple practical lesson. What I enjoyed most was the experience of him turning the written notes to music and the rhythm of sweetest sounds in my mind that stirred my soul. His lessons opened a part of me that never existed....a beautiful, fulfilling experience ..sheer joy when I played the Chaals, Chaal breaks and now in the very near the Bhangra beats.

Hi, I would totally recommend Indy from Online Dhol Classes each session is structured and he goes at your pace. If there is anything you don't understand Indy will break it down for you in a number of ways which is something I like about his lessons. Indy has been monumental in taking my dhol playing to the next level. I originally started taking lessons with Indy because I realized I was stagnating playing the dhol without a teacher. I am glad Indy was the teacher I found. Not only does he take time to teach new bols, but he has also taught me how to speak and understand the bols, understand timing the bols, and how to get creative with the dhol. I cannot wait to see how Indy will continue in helping me grow in the future!

I can whole heartily recommend Indy for anyone that wants to learn to play the Dhool. After 10 lessons starting as a complete beginner, my ability to play some rhythms is coming along and am more than happy with the progress Indy teaches with Patience and clarity with good old Brummie charm, really decent bloke. We work at my pace although concentration and coordination levels have been tested. The only thing negative is my rate of practice during the week but am working on that. He records a review of the weekly lesson so there is reference along with notes. At 57 years old one is really enjoying the Dhool and the energy Indy brings into the mix and am inspired by his skill and humbleness. Have always felt the beat and now with Indy’s guidance, on a journey to play it 🙏🏼
